Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

You can alight (love that word!) from the train in Ballyhaunis (perhaps 7 miles before Knock) or the following stop Claremorris which is about the same distance the other side of Knock but the road from there to Knock is much better. There are a few hotels in Knock but this is busy season so they may be booked up. There is no hotel in Ballyhaunis but the McWilliam Park Hotel in Claremorris is pretty nice. In terms of sight seeing, the really nice part of Mayo is down the West coast which might be out of reach for you if you have no car. There are a few bits and pieces in Knock, museums etc.

you might consider going to westport the last stop on the train as its a lovely busy town and croagh patrick is always worth a look or a climb!

Castlebar is a good shopping town and lively with a few hotels, its also along the train line and is about 35 miles from Knock. It would be a good base as there is, bowling alley, cinema, museum just outside the town if you get yucky weather:eek:

Its difficult to see much of the wests scenic spots without a car. Good luck with the weather.
