Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

So, how would you go about this?!

I went looking to see about getting an off-license and it seems like the District Court grants them, since they recently refused one in Cork - but is there a limit or could anyone get one?

    anyone know?

There are restrictive rules about createing new licences. Most people buy existing licences.

You will notice the surge of off-licences in Dublin - many of these had been rural licences.

So it is possile to create a licence at all? Surely it is cheaper than spending 170k?

A wine licence is a whole different kettle of fish.

Spot on. A wine licence i.e. for on or off sales of wine, is or at least was up until about a month ago (note certain changes have been introduced pursuant to the Intoxicating Liquor Act 2008) obtained directly from the Revenue Comissioners without the need to transfer or extinguish existing licenses or the necessity to appear before the District Court (now no longer the case see section 6).

Whereas, off licences are required to extinguish an existing full licence i.e. full seven day (publicans) or off licence. As another poster quite rightly points out the proliferation of garages, and convenience stores selling booze and indeed new off licences is largely at the expense of rural pubs, because prior to the enactment of the Intoxicating Liquor Act 2000 it was necessary to extinguish a licence in the same town, vicinity, or parish of the proposed premises, whereas now a licence from any part of the country will do. And in rural areas it was also necessary to extinguish two licences.
