Im finacially independent, under 23 years of age and starting a Post Grad degree.

Is there anyway of not having my application accessed on the basis of my parents salaries as i am financially indepentent? Are exceptions made of is there no way around the over/under 23 rule?

    Hey there,

There's no set way of getting seen by the Council/VEC as being independent. It has happened in the past that people, through gentle arguments have been assessed on their own income, but as I said there is no set manner to get around this.

There are plans for under 23s to be assessed on their own income with rumours of this due to be starting in 2009/10, but no information about how this will work has come out yet.

    Sorry I can't help more.
