As Tallaght01 pointed out in the Brisbane beers thread, we had a couple of successful Aussie boards beers last month.

Just wondering if anyone's hanging around Melbourne in the coming weeks wants to give Melbourne beers a go. With the amount of Irish people in this city there's bound to be a few boardsies kicking their heels on a Friday night...

Will be arriving in Melbourne in about 2 weeks so if you're still planning on a few drinks I'd be up for it then!

Any tips on where to live/work in Melbourne???

Oh, didn't see this thread before now! I'm in Melbourne. Snowed under with work for the next few weeks, but maybe after that. Keep us updated if there's anything planned.

I can't make it this Friday, I don't think. Most Fridays I can. If I'm free this Friday I'd be up for it.

I don't like PJ's at all. And I reckon it'd be a pretty bad place to meet people you've never met and get to know them. It always has really loud music and is full of hammered Irish people.

"Oirish" pub, I won't be there. Sorry, but I can't bear it. Obviously been out of the country too long.

Well I haven't been out in Melbourne a whole lot yet, more trying to find a job than partying, so I'm open to any suggestions of where to go. As long as it's not the espy :p

There's tonnes of cool bars in the CBD. They're all down little alleyways!

Look could we set a date a little further out for this, so some more people will go? I'd like to come but I can't go this Friday. Maybe Friday 3rd October or something, so we can nominate a location for drinks that's more easily agreeable and so on?

So what's the verdict? Tonight or the 3rd? I guess it's too short notice for tonight now...

I reckon the 3rd's a good bet. This weekend's too short notice and next weekend's grand final weekend with the game on Saturday so people might be saving themselves for that.
If we go with the 3rd it gives us time to agree on a decent venue too as I'd agree with One Cold Hand here, I'm not a fan of PJs at all!

Greasy Joes in St Kilda - perfect venue seriously, it's on acland st opposite mcdonalds, never busy and plenty of seats, and sound bar staff. Cian the barman is a sound bloke, I miss him and his free drinks/cheap pint prices he gave me!

Would love to but I had to make an emergency trip to the dentist today and I'm drugged up and off the drink. Not to mentioned suffering light-wallet syndrome.

    Next time, I'm in.

Unfortunately not for me, I've been roped into that Australian staple, the 'sales party', where you go around to someone's house to drink grog and get roped into buying overpriced rubbish.

Let's try this one last time shall we? Anyone up for Melbourne beers this weekend?

We've been here nearly 3 months now and have met hardly any new people. I'm really up for interacting with some people that I don't work with :p
