I have noticed, over the last few evenings, a large number of swans feeding under the railway bridge, at lough atalia. I can't say I ever remember seeing this before. Maybe a few, but never 30 -40 at a time. Is this unusual?

I have seen swans in that area before but not in large numbers. I'd imagine it's to do with the water temperature or food stocks though.

Really love Galways swan population I must say.

Nothing unusual there, could have somethign to do with food as mentioned above as the currents there can suck stuff into the Lough (Mainly sh1t though ) and it bottle-necks under the bridge
