Quake Quick Cup

I am pleased to announce the first (hopefully of many) Quake Quick Cup. Scheduled for Sunday 17th August. Sign-ups are open. However, on the day all players must check in between 13:00 and 14:00. Matches will go live at 15:00. Please be in the IRC channel #esports.ie in order to arrange matches and keep up to date with the latest news, scores and results.

Quake 3 v1.32 & CPMA mod (v1.46)
Vq3 gameplay

Rules:
Match type: 1v1 Duel
Matches will be played as a best-of-three maps.
Time Limit: 15 minutes per map
Overtime: 2 minutes
Tournament will be run as a double elimination bracket

Match is played as a “best of three maps”. Both players select a map from the map list before the match starts. If a third map is required, each player eliminates one map from the list. The player with the lower frag difference from the previous two maps eliminates the first map and the higher player gets the deciding vote.


Note: This is a QUICK cup. Therefore it will be run within one day. As a result, we must be mean with time. If you are called to play, you must be in IRC. From first notification you have 15mins to play the game (unless you can provide a valid reason and there are other games that can be played within this time). Otherwise you will have to forfeit your match.

If you do not have IRC, a quick access is available for Firefox. Just enter your nickname and #esports.ie as the channel.
Internet Explorer users can also partake in the fun. The server is irc.quakenet.org. The port is 6667 and the channel is #esports.ie

Parties involved in this: PPC (server), Rzelky (lots of donkey work) and myself (Sabre0001).

All feedback will be much appreciated so that we can make it bigger and better in future. While there are no prizes on offer (sorry – maybe soon ), the top 4 finishers will receive ranking points that will carry on into future cups and tournaments.

Unfortunately not as yet. However, ranking points gained will give you a better seeding heading into future tournaments. So if there are prizes on offer, those who have a proven record should have an easier job (all going to plan )
