Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. Definitely think Arsenal are going to struggle tomorrow.
Just like the start of last season against Fulham.

I can see Arsenal winning 3 or 4 nil.

I'm so excited, can't wait for kick off. I'm actually fairly optimistic about our chances, a lot more so then I was this time last year. Hopefuly Van Persie stays injury free this season and we see plenty of this.

Looking for a 3 goal win today to get us off to a flying start (and earn me some cash :D).

Today is the start of it for RVP, great opportunity to get off the mark. If anyone can't see the game live for some reason it will also be on Today FM from 12:40, 5 mins before kick off. Gome on the Gunners.

Scratch that RVP out today and replaced by Nicklas Bendtner (minor injury)

I think I jinxed him, he's on the bench with 'a niggle'.

With the Respect campaign starting today, who's going to be the first victim/scapegoat?

Funny watching them going on about respect for refs on Football Focus.

Can see some big names being snet off

Rooney will certainly have to shut the f*ck up for the first few matches. Hopefully Fergie has intimated same to him...

Funny to see nobody wants Liverpool to win but don't actually pick against them. Its Dunphyism at its greatest.
    It's called a draw Bill

****ing hell... Arsenal living dangerously. Alumia made a fantastic save and then the rebound was cleared off the line. WBA are going to get a result here if Arsenal don't up the tempo.

and Adebayor just missed a one on one...

WBA's attack is sh*te... giving no thought at all, head down, hitting and hoping.

Gallas was handling the striker easily too.

    Nasri is looking pretty comfortable.

Eboue should never be allowed to shoot.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,617 ✭✭✭✭PHB

WBA look like they'll do ok in this league, they've done themselves proud today, even if they don't win.

Arsenal look good, but ultimately are lacking without Fabregas. So many times I saw the central midfielder with the ball and an attacker wide open but the right pass wasn't made. Fabregas would make that pass. Defensively look pretty sound as well, Sagna makes the difference. Arsenal to start a 6 game win run now if they win this game. [Fulham, Newcastle, Blackburn, Hull, Sunderland]

I dunno. what I saw today was a team well capable of it, but scared to. maybe they'll settle into it a bit as the season goes on but their failure to even try and support their front man even in the dying minutes of the game says a lot imo. they had a reputation last year for scoring more goals than the opposition, but this year it looks to be all about containment.

that and their centre midfield seem to be non-existent at times.

meh, all promoted teams make decent-ish starts.

Boro vs Spurs is on Setanta Sports 1 now (as is Sunderland vs Pool @ 5.30pm)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,604 ✭✭✭herbieflowers

So are Setanta Ireland showing many games this season? Is it every couple of weeks? And was RTE's showing of matches live at 3pm on Saturdays a few seasons back only a one-year contract?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,617 ✭✭✭✭PHB

    That's exciting stuff from Spurs

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 88,972 ✭✭✭✭mike65

Dean Ashton the first prem goal. Curbs safe for a week anyway.

    Mike.

RTE showing matches was an agreement with Setanta. I think Setanta were using it to test the market, using RTE to get more people watching the Premiership (as to watch Setanta Ireland you needed some kind of cable or digital package already) in the hope it would yield more subscriptions when they become established.

    Goal disallowed for Boro

    Dunno why

    edit:

Yes I do... Dawson swinging out of Wheater (ripping his shirt in the process) for a corner, and the ref saw it as the opposite

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,617 ✭✭✭✭PHB

Shocking decision from the ref. To the championship with him!

Spurs out of ideas, the system ain't working too well.

They could at least spell his name properly, after all he did score the first goal of the new season. His name is spelt two ways in this match report, awful stuff.

most of the games are on justin.tv if it hasnt already been posted

not sure if we can post links here tho can we?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,225 ✭✭✭Chardee MacDennis

pat dolan is a moran, he just said that Southgate would want his players surrounding the Ref giving him dogs abuse about that disallowed goal because it could turn out to be very important, well Pat the ref cant change his decision. and according to him the reason the respect campaign has been started is due to a media conspiracy by rugby union! LOL! setanta should fire him for advocating dissent.

i personally thought it was great not to see the players surround the ref, although it was a ridiculous decision.

I actually wondering what the legality of those kind of streams is?

same as anything pirated. for the most part illegal but the laws surrounding it are very grey...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,225 ✭✭✭Chardee MacDennis

and lou macari is another one setanta should get rid of, he claims to not understand the need for 7 subs, a pointless change apparently.

he just made three suggestions to change football:
    1. ban the fourth official
    2. ban the team huddle at the start - they can do it in the dressing room
    3. ban pat dolan from TV

3 is his only valid point, but he's another dolt who just repeats everything he reads in the paper, along with his united/celtic tinted glasses. bah i wish we could get commentry free TV!!

Everton go 2-1 up in the 65th minute and Blackburn equalise in the 66th. Great game.
