Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Going by that performance, I think Man City may be in a relegation battle this season.

Lol 1st game of the season, away to a very good top 6 side, missing 5 or 6 first teamers (Jo, Vassell, Benjani, Dunne, Bojinov etc). Yeah, it points towards the Championship

I suppose Pompey are on the way down too. And Everton, cause they lost to a Bentley-less Blackburn and they were at home.

Aye let see if he can change it about.

Vida there, what a great piece of defending Gutierrez.

That piece of football there between Roon and Campbell, just highlights Campbells sheer inexperience at this level.

Really missing Tevez today. Good to see Possebon getting a run. Hopefully we can sneak a win.

I must say I'm impressed by the sheer volume of hair on show in this game, the 80's are back.

Well Portsmouth, Everton and Man City are my three picks for relegation. In other news, Hull City for premiership champions......

1-1 draw. lack of firepower exposed upfront today. Hope that is sorted this week.

I think more than a striker today, we needed a creative midfield player. Scholes wasn't playing well, and Fletcher and O'Shea were just plugging holes. If we had Nani or Ronaldo (or even Hargreaves in the role he played in the CL final), we would've done better. We looked like we didn't know how to create chances.

    Today our missing men showed

We played for a good portion of the game with 3 central midfielders and a left back in midfield. We had nothing on the bench.
First 4 choice wingers out (Ronaldo, Park, Nani, Anderson) and nobody could do jack.

Carrick going off really hurt us, from then on we were 2nd best. Why Fergie brought on O'Shea is beyond me, stupid decision. Possebon did well enough when he came, offered more than O'Shea at least.

Ultimately, Fergies to blame for this situation. He should have strengthened by now and he hasn't, and its cost us. Lets hope he gets it sorted for next weekend but with Berbatov on international duty, that's only going to hold things up more.

One word sums up our game today and that is Poor.

Campbell didnt impress me one single bit, too light, and simply not good enough to play for us yet. I stress yet, if he goes to Hull gets a year of Prem League football under his belt and bulks up then he has a chance until then he will go the same route as Rossi did.

Rooney worked his socks off today, but maybe he is still a little rusty, the loss of Tev had huge effect as Roon could have it a little easier with the dynamo that Tevez is beside him.

Disappointed to see Carrick injured, coming to the end of the game seemed as if Vida was injured hopefully its only a knock.

On Possebon, id like to retract my earlier comments about giving him a chance, he looked very well for the time he played, slick passing and held the ball up well.

We seriously need to kick on and not let the likes of Ronaldo being injured drag us down. Hopefully we will have Tev back for the next game , and Nani ( I think he should be back from suspension not sure), finally the possibility of a striker will boost us.

But as it stands from todays performance there are very few good things you can take out of it, thankfully we didnt lose.

As for Newcastle , they played very solid, Gutierrez impressed me immensely. Also they seemed super fit, which was evident as Keggy didnt make no subs.

All in all Poor day for us.

I agree. You just had to look at our bench to see we badly need to bring in at least a striker, if not a winger as well. An injury crisis (like now, or like Chelsea had last year) will cripple us.
