You are in fact backing up my point. The average "new" paddy is wrong. When he goes to get a paninni at lunch time, he is infact incorrect, given that he is getting one of the items.

Thanks for the advice my italian??? is not that great.

What is it with this country.

The irish man has been the pesant of Europe for 300 years. The EU decide to throw a few scrappings his way and now he suddently thinks he is king of the world.

Buying "property abroad", discussing rental yields, capital appreciation and so on. Drinking lattes, eating panninis. Even look at the ads on TV showing "office banter" among would would in the past be called retards.

It is amazing how easily he has been had. Now look at the situation, his smugness blinds him to the fact that he is being shafted at every turn.

Any clown with a degree seems to think he is immune from being conned, which just makes him more of a pleb.

Even look at the topics of the threads in this afterhours forum. Pure degrading trash, and the little office worker bee swallows the lot, and whats more he/she has this recently developed social conscience. They want to save the whales, for fcuk sake if you are dumb enough to buy bottled water they will contribute 10 litres to africa for every litre you buy. What tatter.

The social engineers have a prime example of their trade in the "new" irish man.

    A disgrace.

You seem to be hurting deeply inside.

who took a sh1t in your cheerios?

With "witty retorts", it often helps if they make sense.

A laptop is also a personal computer.

    *witty retort*

OP, why don't you go live in Cuba? That's your socialist utopia. Granted, people sometimes struggle to get enough to eat, but so what? At least they're not being flash and vulgar.

Not flash and vulgar? With cigars as long as your arm? And just look at Tony Montana. He had all sorts of flash vulgar gear. Them Cubans have been lording it over us for years.

Your dead right OP! It's not like Ireland really became proud of itself it just bought into a disgusting international yuppie lifestyle that the rest of the world discarded 10 years ago.

Every time I go abroad it just highlights how chronic the false pride is in this country. Every national project or works just turns into a farce and by the time they've finished they've built the wrong thing.

It's not the money that ruined Ireland it was our indifference to the corrupt people doing half arsed jobs because they where trowing us a bit on the side (that happened in everything from politics to business). Now it's over and we're just left with a big mess.

Ireland has a history to be proud of but we've nothing to be proud of at the moment.

Most of the "smug new Irish" you describe will be retired at 55 and laughing at you as you serve them their skinny latte in McDonalds on your 70th birthday

Retirement! They might as well have been shovelling their money into a fire for all the good it'll do them.

Well, my life has nothing to do with being 'smug' and drinking lattes... I was born in Ireland though...*head explodes*

Seriously OP, the world is just full of people trying to get through this life the best they can, and that applies to all countries and all people. Is there something wrong with being successful, making money and having ambitions? I don't know if you're aware of this, but glossy-mag reading celeb followers exist everywhere. Not just this country.
