Meeting to establish a gaelscoil in Ratoath, Co. Meath

A meeting will take place in Ratoath GAA Club on Wednesday 27th of August, to discuss the possibility of setting up a gaelscoil in Ratoath, Co. Meath. Proceedings will begin at 8pm and all are welcome to attend.

An update for anyone who might be interested in our progress so far:

- The school is planned to open in September 2010.

- We are very near having the required number of pupils registered for official recognition.

- We are currently in negotiations to select a patron and a site for the school.

- We have a new website at http://gaelscoilrathto.ning.com (see our email address in original post above).

- We will be having a table quiz fundraiser in the GAA Club at Seán Eiffe Park on Thursday 9th of April at 9pm. All welcome.

Great to see local people organising a Gaelscoil in Ráth Tó. It seems a long, long way since that dirty old prefab in the old tech in Dunshaughlin was used to house the first Gaelscoil in the area until finally, years later, the state agreed to build the purpose-built school that is now Scoil na Rithe. I wish you all as much success in Ratoath.

PS: Absolutely superb colour green on your website. Very professionally done.

Despite not receiving recognition from the Department of Education, Gaelscoil Ráth Tó will be proceeding with establishment of the school this Autumn.

First teacher appointed to new Gaelscoil Ráth Tó - Meath Chronicle.

The school will be having an open evening for the community of Ratoath about the school, on Wednesday 21st of July from 6.30 - 7.30pm in the Community Centre and anyone is welcome to attend.

It will give people a chance to familiarise themselves with the classroom of the school, as much of the furnishings and facilities are in place and people can also meet with the school's first new teacher, Tricia Ní Mhaolagáin, on the night.

I love these David and Goliath stories. Best of luck taking on the state. You have my utmost respect and without doubt you will win full recognition by virtue of the parents there who want their children to be educated through Irish rather than be forced to send their children to English-medium schools. In my day, we had no such choice: the English-medium national school or nothing. Seriously backward stuff.

Sports stars at Gaelscoil's open evening - Meath Chronicle

The school will be opening it's doors this Monday 30th of August after two years of hard graft by all involved since the first meeting in 2008. TV3 News did a report on us at 5.30pm today. Anyone see it? If you missed it and would like to see it, you can watch it here on the TV3 website.

The Irish Independent will be doing an article on the school in next Monday's paper, so keep an eye out for that as well.
