Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Pay-on-delivery off licence services ("Dial-A-Can" etc.) are illegal. You're best going with the online services of Tesco, Superquinn or the like.

    Or for decent beer, RealBeers.ie.

Is that since the new licensing laws? What about beer taxis?

Nope, 'twas ever thus. To sell booze you need a licence, and each licence is issued for a particular address. Selling booze at an unlicensed address is illegal.

Do you mean sending a taxi driver to buy you beer and then buying the beer off the taxi driver? That's illegal too: taxi drivers are not licensed to sell alcohol. Pay the guy in advance, however, and it shouldn't be a problem. I think.

Actually is it illegal to use one of these services to purchase a few cans after 10? By paying the fella in advance before delivery?

Not so much illegal as impossible. If you pay somebody after 10 to go buy you cans there won't be anywhere open to serve them.

Or have I picked you up wrong?

Being able to buy a drink whenever you want one? Are you crazy? Next thing you'll be giving women the vote and attempting heavier-than-air flight. Madness!

The Carry-Out offy in Celbridge advertise a delivery service, 2 euro delivery charge, pay on delivery. This has been a godsend to me and my buddies on one or two lazy barbecue weekends! I don't know if they'd go to lucan but you could always chance them!
