Halloween at Duckett's Grove Historic House & Walled Gardens

    31 October 2010

Halloween is fast approaching and what better place to spend your day than in the impressive ruined mansion and gothic revival castle of Duckett’s Grove, close to Carlow Town. A hive of Halloween activity can be enjoyed on Sunday October 31st from 12 p.m. – 7 p.m. – so if you're up for fancy dress and trick or treating competitions, ghost trails and spooky tales, then this is the perfect place to celebrate one of the world’s oldest festivals.

I have been saying for years that this was a real opportunity missed, delighted to see it is at last being addressed. €5 PER CAR, from 12- 7p.m.

For many women young and old life often gets in the way of completing or returning to education and fulfilling a desired career or goal . The New Steps Programme is now offering women across the County an exciting opportunity to address this and build careers and further education roadmaps for their own future. Part of this initiative is a ten week course taking place in Forward Steps Resource Centre, Tullow commencing on Tuesday 25th January for three mornings a week. During this programme participants will gain personal development, communication and computer skills, participants will also receive one to one mentoring support and career and education exploration throughout.

As women, we spend much of our time encouraging our friends and family, including children, to reach for their goals and dreams but rarely do we take our own advice. Education is a powerful tool and regardless of whether we choose to use it for career aspirations or to create a stronger being for ourselves, we should use it for all its potential.
If you’d like to take part and enhance your skills this year contact Jacqui on PM<snip>.

This Programme is part of the Equality for Women Measure 2009-2013 and is funded by the European Social Fund and the Department Of Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs

Next Thursday night, March 3rd, the IT are hosting their annual fight night in the Barrow Centre and are hoping to have 12 fights on the bill.

The guys representing the Institute have trained very hard all year and are a terrific and highly skilled group of young lads and would very much appreciate your support in what promises to be a great night. We have ring round girls, a ring announcer, a DJ, to name a few. We are trying to generate a proper carnival atmosphere for what we hope will be a memorable night.

Also if there is any local businesses willing to sponsor a bout it would be very much welcome. Sponsorship is €50 for a bout, and your business will be mentioned in the fight programme and prior to the bouts by the ring announcer. Sponsorship money goes toward the costs of very important factors such as the medical staff, the ring, etc, and makes nights like this possible.
It would also be a fantastic way to promote your business at a reasonable rate in what is a very tough economic climate.

Attached is the poster and any further questions ill gladly answer them.

    Hope to see you there.

The Irish Motorsport Expo is taking place at The Hub in Kilkenny on Sunday May 22nd at 11 am. This Motorsport Ireland supported event is being run in conjunction with the Road Safety Authority. In recent weeks Motorsport Ireland and the RSA have joined forces to launch a new safety initiative aimed at young drivers, with both organisations present at the show to publicise this exciting new scheme.

Its a fantastic opportunity for people from the surrounding areas and counties to get up close to some of the most exciting machinery in the country, and meet the people who drive them and find out how to do it themselves.
The event is the only one of its kind in Ireland this year, and will cover all aspects of the sport:

    · Stage Rallying
    · Karting
    · Circuit Racing
    · Autocross
    · Rallycross
    · Hillclimbing/Sprinting
    · Trials
    · Autotesting

Another major feature of the show will be the drivers’ forum, which will provide both existing and potential competitors with an insight to the sport at its highest levels, from both sides of the car.
The forum, hosted by respected motorsport journalist Martin Walsh, will feature:

    · Craig Breen; winner of 2010 Ulster Rally and WRC Academy front- runner
    · Alastair Fisher; MSA Rally Elite member, WRC Academy front runner and Fiesta ST Trophy champion
    · Killian Duffy; leading Irish co-driver, supplier of On The PaceNOTE notes and successful competitor in WRC and Middle East events
    · And many more exciting names to be announced

Further exciting events at the show include:
    · Raffle of James Colemans co-drivers seat for 00 of Ravens Rock 2011
    · Unveiling of The Stig. Person with correct guess will win €400 holiday voucher.
    · Timed gearbox change challenge, featuring Buckstown Motorsport.

The event is also acting the official launch for the Carrick on Suir Motor Club’s prestigious Ravens Rock Rally, which is celebrating its 40th anniversary. We are expecting a large turnout from the motorsport community and the wider public, and we feel that this is an ideal opportunity for those in the motorsport trade to exhibit their latest products and innovations, both to an existing client base and also to a new audience.
