    Hi,

Having just spent €300 on a second hand Nokia N95 8GB, I am keen on insuring it against theft, loss & accidental damage.

It's only 2 months old, and I have the receipt.

How do I go about insuring it? And who's doing the best deals?

In the "All Risks" section of the Home Insurance policy

Hi, thanks for the reply. I'm a tenant so no Home insurance policy.

Would be looking for a mobile phone policy only

Landlord's policy doesn't cover ANY of your contents. You SHOULD have your own contents (including mobi) insured.

If you lose a phone outside your home you won't be able to use home insurance to claim for it.

Before you sign up for any phone insurance have a look at the T&Cs. You might find that the cover you purchased is very limited. See what exactly is covered, some policies cover only a very few eventualities.

If you specify the phone in the ALL RISKS section it is covered anywhere

I looked into this and it cost €125 to get my phone added to the all risks section, and there was a "Special" excess of €150 on mobiles also.
It's not really worth it TBH

You should never insure something you can afford to replace.

With respect, €300 is not an insignificant sum of money. I'd like the peace of mind in having it insured
