There is a very high frequency of buses from the city centre to Crumlin Road:

Any of the following routes pick up from College Street:
    50, 56A, 77, 77A, 151

From Dame Street (beyond Georges Street):
    50, 56A, 77, 77A, 150, 151

They all run the length of the Crumlin Road.

The 50/56A/77/77A all start at Ringsend Bus Depot, while the 150 starts in Fleet Street (beside D'Olier Street) and the 151 starts on New Wapping Street in Docklands, and then operates via Sherriff Street, Connolly Station and Burgh Quay.

You don't say where he is coming from or where in Crumlin. From the city centre the 50, 77/a, 150 and 151 are the best options. Expect a journey tiem of 30 minutes off peak, more at peak and allow extra time for finding the place (ask the driver). Allow extra time because it is an interview

Other options are the 17, 18, 56a and 121, 122, 123 - these three take odd routes but end up at the hospital.

Make sure that it is Crumlin Road - Crumlin Village and Crumlin Business Park are slightly different locationwise.

The road is about 2 miles long so it is a little long to traverse if they miss their stop or use the wrong bus and a boring uphill slog as well :( As a local, the 50/56A/77/77A/150/151 are the best option as they run the length of the road; The whole fall of the area is very wide so get them to ring ahead for a land mark so they know when to alight the bus; Crumlin village is a long way from Crumlin Shopping centre!

The 121/122/123/18/17 and even the 19 will get you close to or onto the road, just not all at one convenient place or for the whole length so bear it in mind if you are coming from areas served by these buses.
