Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I am a holistic therapist and have a client who uses Marijuana for chronic pain control. Obviously as a therapist I understand the reported benefits of Marijuana for the treatment of pain and appreciate that self-medication is common for people like this. And I am aware that drugs are illegal but can anyone tell me the state of Irish Law in terms of Marjiuana possession and usage?

Possession of Cannabis (a controlled drug) for personal use is is an offence under the Misuse of Drugs Act 1977. It is punishable by fine/imprisonment up to 12 months. In reality if a person is found with a tiny amount (depending on the person and circumstances) the Garda will usually not prosecute but confiscate it.

If the matter is prosecuted in the District Court the Probation Act would usually be applied and a donation to charity would be asked for which saves the person any criminal conviction.

Any sort of supply or direct advocacy is likely to get you into serious trouble though.

    Best talk to a solicitor.
