It arrives in at 6:30 and leaves just after nine, most spotters aren't up that early

27B goes alongside the runway up to Harristown from the Swords Rd.

83 comes from the 10 threshold to Harristown

The nearest bus stop for the 27B is the Swords Road (just before it turns) and for the 83 Harristown Depot (also closest stop for 27B if you are going to runway 10. A stop inbetween is the 4/13 stop past the Ballymun M50 junction near the Golf course.

A 41 or 33 bus (at least) from city centre going towards Swords, via old Airport Road, would get you there or near enough in my humble opinion.

Get off the bus at Dardistown Cemetery (there are traffic lights there), head onto the road facing the cemetery - it's adjacent to Runway 28 - you should be at viewing area on foot in 10 mins, be careful if walking as cars often travel fast there.

I was at Dublin Airport Saturday morning, around 11.05am, an Aer Lingus A330 (New York bound I believe) was lining up on Runway 10 & you could clearly see a Ryanair 737 on final approach, it seemed very close to the untrained eye!

The A330 duly moved off & rotated; I then counted 13 seconds before the 737 actually landed.

I'm no expert, but I have seen my fair share of landings & takeoffs at Dublin & that struck me as being much closer than anything i'd ever seen there before. What is the normal guidelines for separation at Dublin?

That is pretty par for the course...if you go to an airport like heathrow or a busy continental airport you will see aircraft pretty close together. The pilot of the Ryanair may have been cleared to land and told "Caution wake turbulence departing heavy A330" so that he was aware that heavy traffic was departing ahead. However wake turbulence would not be too much of a concern for the landing traffic in the case of a departure ahead. The only issue for the Ryanair crew would be a possible aborted take off by the A330...in that case once the A330 calls aborted or they get to minimums the Ryanair throttles go balls to the wall and they get out of dodge.

Had the A330 been landing ahead there would have been greater separation.

I remember back in my weekend childhood Dublin spotting a Turkish A321 sitting on 28 for a long time after it was cleared for an immediate rolling take-off. An A330 called a go around because of it and as the A330 was climbing away above him the Turkish started to roll for take off....tower was very very unhappy and ordered him to abort take off and exit the runway.

Think this is the correct place as i just withnessed it, Aer lingus EI273 coming into dublin from Birmingham was about to come in to land, Flash of Lightning and aborted landing...Still in the air.

Just once off perhaps.

No, as in if he'd taken off, he'd be climbing in to the path of the A330.

No I think it was because of the wake turbulence cased by the A330's go around.

The A330 was climbing above and so the A321 would be climbing in front of or behind him at a fairly close altitude. In front has it's obvious issues but if he was to climb out below and behind the A330 he would be at serious risk of being kicked around and possibly put back on the ground with a bump by the wake turbulence.

Anyone know the route/times of the Fedex Dublin service? I heard it goes to CDG and STN any ideas?

On Monday-Thursday it departs at about 1900 to Stansted. On Saturdays it goes direct to CDG, typically at about 1500. I'm not sure of the actual scheduled departure times. There is no outbound flight on a Friday or Sunday.

M-GSIX is Denis O' Brien's G650 and it has arrived in Dublin.

Spoke to a chap from FedEx this afternoon and he explained that today's MD-11 was brought in to train the crews in their use.
He said that the A300s would continue to be used with the MD-11 used as a standby replacement when required.
The MD11 will be used on at least 1 Friday each month to ensure the crews are kept current.
