Was out at there today from one to half two, pretty good viewing.Witnessed just one go-around ei320,he abandoned his approach about 6 miles out earliest go around i seen yet.He looked as if he lost a fair bit of altitude on the way in.

Cant seem to get dub on live atc working, its streaming but no sound anyone with the same problem?

Im heading out to the field for about seven as the wind speed is due to increase tonight.

Scanner is a must even though liveatc is handy at times. See anyone thats up later :)

Some gusts at DUB today! Some hairy looking approaches and the gusts seemed to be causing problems on the ramp. Both the 125 to ORD and 137 to BOS were delayed before i left due to gusts prohibiting the catering from being loaded using the scissors lift and resulting in trolleys being loaded via the airbridges!

Wind seemed worse on the east side(cargo side) of Pier E as they were loading catering on the pier B side of Pier E with seemingly no issues. Felt sorry for the ramp guys today in them conditions.

EI125 didn't get away until almost 15.30 and the 137 to BOS is still showing as not having departed yet!!

I seen that too, had my scanner so could hear the reason for the go-around, they said they lost 40kts at 1800ft. Thats fairly impressive windshear.

Bingo.I was looking at him on finals it looked as if his he turned off his landing lights but in fact it was his pitch that changed.I think it happened twice.

    It sure is.
You could tell how much higher speed everyone had on shortfinal.

Did anyone else see the Aer Lingus A321 that did a wingdip at like 50 feet?
He sorted it out but it looked so so on the final.

I saw that, and commented on another thread. In a 737 he may have scaped an engine pod off the ground.

With your canon 1000d you would have no problem getting shots similar to Kenny's you just need to know how to use it(don't use auto mode)you would also require a lens of around 200mm.It is a learning curve in both taking the shots and editing the results.

awhh man , thats the only one i use. i should have a fast shutter speed and long aperture ?

would i get any results using auto?

sorry slightly off topic i know

    Eimear,

I find the best way is to experiment. Just go up and give it a try.

so is there will there be lots of others taking photos aswell like?

like if theyre crap is there a nice community spirit out there that one could ask advice off someone else there?

or does everyone keep to themselves?

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,349 ✭✭✭Kenny2012

    Hi,
As in life you will meet all sorts.
I think you will know yourself if they are not good.
I'm sure if you someone taking photos most people will be willing to advise you.

    regards

    Ken

You would get a result using auto...but it may not be a good one.
Get yourself a 200mm-300mm consumer(cheaper Canon or Sigma)lens take lots shots of aircraft with the sun behind you.Keep in mind what you see through the view finder. Most important read the manual that came with your camera take some more shots look at the results then read it again.
You need to learn and experiment look at the forums and advice on the like of Airliners and Jetphotos.
Good luck as I stated earlier it is a learning curve you will not master aviation photography over night.
