I dont think the present blue is just a random choice. To me it looks like St. Patrick's blue, the national colour of Ireland. I'd guess that this choice goes all the way back to the ( always keen to promote Ireland ) Tony Ryan.

The navy blue is the colour of Tipperary, where Tony Ryan is originally from.

Navy blue is not the Tipp blue. The shade of blue on the tail and logo of EI-FRN in the first photo is as close to Tipp blue as you'll get. You can also blame Tipp for the yellow as well :D

I've heard that this will become a lot more regular in the summer.

It flew the BA838/BA839 - the flight before it was cancelled so presumably they doubled up.

Shades of the old days when it was a shuttle service in all but name, on arrival at the gate, the aircraft could be anything from a 1-11 to a Tristar, with other options between them being used as well. The normal aircraft was a 737.

I would not be surprised to see larger equipment on the route, given that IAG are looking to develop Dublin as a hub for North Atlantic operations, while they will be hoping to get regional traffic, the sheer volume of people connecting through Heathrow both to and from Ireland makes a larger aircraft on the London route a very easy way to increase the loads and yields. That said, a 777 was probably used because it was "spare", rather than being needed to cover the number travelling.

Shore, if it was easy, everybody would be doin it.😁

Sukhoi SuperJet should also be flown home to Dublin in the next week as well. Charter flights only initially.

Rumoured that IAG are looking at how EI could deploy an A330 on DUB-LHR-DUB during the day in between T/A's to assist moving pax and cargo. Dont think its a runner myself, but who knows.

they have a 5-6 hour window between morning TA arrivals and departure.

what the hell get willie to get us A380 all together and we can fill that as well.... but having A330 on that route could be good idea. why have it sitting on the ground for 5hrs

  • Moderators, Motoring & Transport Moderators Posts: 9,841 Mod ✭✭✭✭Tenger

They arent all sitting on the ground for 5-6 hours. If you watch the reg's you will see that they rotate over the week.
Of the 3 early inbounds one does AGP run then late outbound to JFK, other 2 early get ready for early departs to JFK/BOS. The later arrivals, circa 0830, mignt be an option for a LHR rotation, but is 1030 departure a bit too late? Wouldnt want them to be delayed there.
Ive actually seen the onbound LAX aircraft turned around to do the outbound DUB-JFK.
And the one sitting on tbe ground for 5-6 hours might be for planned weekly MX?

Presumably they also need to visit maintenance as well (one would hope!!). 😉

C series coming to Dublin next week for two days 1-3 June for demos to airlines and lessors.

This will then be the scheduled aircraft type for Swiss on the Dublin route from 29th June.

    MX=shorthand for maintenance

Sukhoi arrivals, B757 Honeywell testbed, C Series visits.....quite the upcoming time for spotters at EIDW!

Any idea what the B757 Honeywell is doing at DUB by the way?

    From Geneva or Zurich?

Zurich requires an A321 - would be surprised if they replaced that!

Personally I really like "MX" as I can never seem to write maintainance correctly. But no-one at work understands it.

I may have been misinformed. I think Dublin will be used as the fuel stop for the delivery of the CS100's to Swiss.

Also testing issues with inflight wifi when passing over major cities like London and Amsterdam.

Issues have been reported by airlines when their equipped aircraft have passed over large populated cities. Honeywell are trying to find the problem and the solution.
