i am really confused regarding the whole fee and grant system so i was wondering if the student services fees have to be paid on time or can you wait until your maitenance grant has come through.:confused:

If you inform your College that you're applying for a grant they should not send you out the giro. If possible, don't pay up front (and tell the College you can't/won't pay since you're applying for a grant) because it really negates the whole point of getting a grant!

Ensure that the College know, and that the above system is OK with the Council/VEC (which it should, as I said, it really is ridiculous if they expect you to cough up the money somehow!).
