ford focus milage counter problem

hi, maybe somebody can help, more or less 1/2 year ago the counter resets itself then i turn on the engine so i never know at a certain day how far i drove until that day, the only orientation i have is that i could drive 600km in the city to the next tank stop - which i do regularly ONCE a month ;) i think this all began…

i think this all began then i came back from US still thinking automatic, hit the brake and power on, yeah, took me some trys to realize i had no automatic

since then if it takes to long to get it running the counter reset itself, but only the daily one, the overall mileage is counting as normal.

any guess?
