Arts is good craic, and doing History in secondary school isn't really essential for doing it now.

thank god :( ive got 2 pick my subjects 2nite as the deadline is 2morrow ... any ideas on wat subjects r pretty ok

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,460 ✭✭✭Orizio

If your really not sure, then go for the most popular subjects and bigger departments, like History and English, that way you'll get the most support and help. I did/am doing politics which is a good compliment to History, and did Philosophy as well but that is only a subject to be taken if you have a big interest in Philosophy. Its quite difficult, lot of people drop out and so on. You'll be dropping two subjects for second year so I wouldn't worry too much about disliking one of your choices. Best of luck regardless.

BTW Katie, testspeak in any form is not allowed on this forum, RE: 2nite, r etc.

Orizio are you the same guy from the chopshop?

always love the mixes you guys are putting out.

    any hip-hop heads at UCC?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,460 ✭✭✭Orizio

I write the reviews there, Jay Ru does the podcasts.

There are plenty of fans at UCC, but you know how some 'intelligent' people tend to react to Hip-Hop, ie like twats. I'm sure the DJ or even the Live Music clubs show Hip-Hop some love.

    cool man.

I'm sure there'll be someone to ask, but the lack of one on a Tuesday might mean it doesn't exist any more. Nothing is set in stone until you walk in to the class, and I found we often switched classes around so we could avoid breaking the day up to much, but this was Geology, small class, more understanding lecturers :)

i did orientation today, it basically was a whole heap of 'welcome welcome !!'
which i appreciate, but altogether i thought was a biiit of a waste of time, except obviously the registration and issuing of student cards.
(and free flights from bank of ireland - definite plus !)
a couple of points in a couple of the 'lectures' were useful, but in general was pretty bland.
library tour was practical but finished in two seconds because of whatver time management problems,
and campus tour was fairly basic, but young 'Sean' seemed sound enough, the poor fella !!
    and nota bene
dont show arts students youtube for a straight half hour, it doesn't do our efforts to shoulder off our reputation any good !!
    :D

haha yeah i suppose but did you go to the open day because I had never set foot in UCC so I felt a hell of a lot more confident after having my orientation! Before coming to UCC i would have thought a "Boole" to be a piece of sporting equipment! :D
