Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

XP Media Centre Problems

I bought a laptop there recently second hand, a dell 1501.

I reformatted the hard drive as I wasn't too keen on happily using what it came with in case there was anything dodgy on the drive. PC worked perfectly.

It came with the installtion disks and all that and I have installed XP and Ubuntu, however the Dell Driver disk doesn't seem to be working and I can't get:

    -Proper Graphics,
    -Network Card working
    -Wireless working

I presume this is because I don't have the drivers, but where can I get them and how do I install them?

Ubuntu works perfectly so there is no hardware problems.

    Many thanks,

    Z

if ubuntu is working you can use sudo lshw to get a list of hardware in your computer, sometimes the dell site can be a bit confusing as to exactly which device you have

    Worked perfectly!

Dell must have shipped the wrong disk.

possibly, but I know some of the older driver disks had multiple drivers on them for different systems, probably when you popped in the disk it didn't detect with machine you had and expected you to install the drivers manually. Ah once it works that's all that matters :)
