Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Can somebody give me a rough guide to hire a builder for just to dig out foundations and pour cement? i`m doing a self build and need price guides for a job i`m doing with direct labour ..

    foundation for 6 meters by 5 meters?this will be two single story rooms .. 1 big room devided in half .. All done ready to lay blocks on ?
    whats the going rate and how long will something like this take? so i`ll have my times and figure right ...

    Are you going to specify the concrete to be used e.g. 30N20?
    You can calculate the volume of concrete required and get the cost of that.

    Good digger man circa €25 per hour (JCB) Allow 3 hours.

    Dumpy level hire €40, one 20ft length of steel bar, one labourer, you, a rake and two shovels.

    Conc circa €570 ( 6 cubic m)
    3 sheets of 16' x 8ft Steel mesh A393.(circa €170)
    25 conc bricks @ 0.50c each.

    Allow for connecting to existing cottage. Taking care at existing foundations (if any exist!)

    Sorry for kind of highjacking this thread but can someone please state a price comparisson for traditional strip foundation and Raft foundation.

    If the Moderators think it is inappropriate I will start a new thread for this question
