Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Yep, your on your own, Microsoft stopped supporting it in 2006

Honestly, 98 is 10yrs ago, why do people bother with such old hardware. The pc is worth absolutely nothing.

A Stinger program like this might work. Standalone and free.

I've a load of old discs that may have virus removal tools on them from when I had win98 (I'm a terrible hoarder) but unless you could identify the virus I doubt I could be of any help . I know I had removal tools for nimda , sasser and a few more .
As others have said it really isnt worth the hassle of even turning on a Win98 machine in this day and age , tbh .

what are the specs of the system? Would he not just consider upgrading it to XP?

because a legit transferrable XP license is worth more than the machine

Wouldnt i need to get rid of the virus first before the upgrade?

    What spec is the machine?

If it's got 98 on it then chances are you're wasting your time even contemplating putting XP on it.
