Hi Im considering hiring a guy who is based outside ireland but in the eu to do websites for me. He is not registered for vat in his own country. I know any sales I make I have to pay 21% vat but is there anything that has to be done regarding the designers side of things.

Do I have to self account for vat on the purchase side of things.

    Cheers
    Shy

As he is not VAT registered you will have to self account for the VAT but you can take a vat deduction for it. In effect the credit and the vat will give a nil net charge to VAT.
