Personally I think that yes, sometimes, Boffer failed to give enough consideration to the Irish consumer(e.g. the first BoC where the Irish customers really did get the emptyings of the black bin-liners) - BUT there's never any question of them not refunding money (to me so far, at least) if anything does go wrong and the majority of 'free' stuff that I've boffered I've got (in fact, all but the packet of batteries).

Fact is, to me, Boffer remains value sometimes. This is the first 'free' boffer that has failed to arrive for me - the way boffer is set up (one offer a day), it did not lead to any impulse buys from me and I am not out of pocket. I'm not going to sweat it too much.

In my opinion, if the sum total reason to try and stop the 'promotion' of boffer is a few packets of missing AA batteries that cost the punter nothing... I don't think it should even be a realistic consideration.

Got one aswell. That £5 surcharge takes some of the sheen of it though.

Still don't think I am going to use it all that much. Unless the remote controls the ipod as well as the speaker volume.

i bought one of the york heart rate monitors. Most of the other stuff is a bit crap though. I'd ay there will be only one or 2 more before they put up something really crap that no one buys so they can leave it for the night. Thats what they usually do

MUST ADMIT, BOFFER IS STEADILY GOING DOWNHILL. YOU'D THINK WITH ALL THE LIQUIDATED STOCK AROUND THESE DAYS THAT IT WOULD BE RICH PICKINGS FOR THEM?

The other night they had a refurb GPS for £49, but it was selling new on pixmania for £39.

Some bargains, yes, but you really have to be careful dealing with boffer.

True, definitely worth googling before that impulse buy and remeber the £5 shipping.

The sterling rate does make them competitive though.

Just got the following press-release from Lauren at Boffer:
BOFFER TO GIVE MEMBERS FREE ANTI-HACKER SOFTWARE

Discount e-tailer Boffer.co.uk is set to give away a free copy of AS Anti-Hacker software to each of its 75,000 members.

American-based Availasoft has launched the promotion with Boffer as part of its strategy to raise the profile and Brand Awareness of its award-winning product in the UK.

The software retails in the USA at $59.99 and is designed for home and business users to comprehensively protect their important internet activities including internet banking, online transactions, e-mail applications, file transfers and data communications.

The complete solution includes Active Protect, Insecure Website Detection Loop, Password Entry Protection Gate, Computer Cleaning, Quick System Scan, Full System Scan, Auto-Update and Security Tools.

IT entrepreneur Shaf Rasul, who invested in Boffer to support the owners’ growth objectives, said: “Avialasoft approached the owners of boffer because they wanted a fun and hip ecommerce company to help them launch its product in the UK.
“We are delighted to be able to partner with them in this exciting product promotion which will protect our members and give them greater security when shopping and working online.”

Boffer sells only one product a day, which is sourced from bankrupt and excess stock, at a bargain price. The offer goes live at midnight and remains on the website till all stock is sold or until 23.59 the following evening.

Products regularly sold on the popular site – which is now the 1500th busiest in the UK and receives 30,000 hits every night – include laptops, iPods, digital cameras and LCD televisions.

Rasul added: “Consumers trends show that people are now avoiding the high street and doing their shopping online in a bid to tackle the effects of the credit crunch.
“Since its launch in September Boffer has captured the imagination of the online consumers through its diverse product range and knock-down bargain prices.
“We offer high-street products at a fraction of the high-street price and people looking for a better deal should make Boffer their number one online shopping site.”
The promotion will be available to anyone who is a registered member before 11.59 February 14th 2009.

The Free software will be available to all registered boffer members at 11.59pm on Friday 14th February. No Purchase necessary.
Anyone use AS Anti-Hacker? Is it worth getting?

It's free. I guess they will have a limited amount (probably 2:P) and you just buy it as a free boffer until they are all out. First come first served basis.

    just got my BOC.. titsology.

ipod voice recorder (not an ipod fan)
8ball poker set (i have plenty of sets as is)
and a bratz karaoke set. (expensive ive no doubt.. buuuuut)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,957 ✭✭✭fdevine

    Bratz you say?? LOL

I got a Bratz Ice Champions Remote Control Ice Skating Rink. Useless and unsellable. Even charity shop would probably turn their noses up at it.

I thought that was all I got until I noticed that they had stuffed an iPod recorder and a stainless steel flask inside.

The iPod thing looks like its for a 4th gen iPod - certainly wont fit my iPod Video.

The flask is emblazoned with the 'designer' name 'GFF-GianFrancoFerrer' or some such sh1t.

    Could be good..
BOFFER SUPPLY DEAL TO BOOST NEXT SELL-OFF

We all know the story of a famous High Street retailer whose name begins with a "W" who has been on the brink of administration for a number of years; they finally succumbed and closed its doors to the public a few weeks ago. Thousands lost their jobs over night as administrators stepped in to manage the liquidation of the retail chain. But what happened to the tens of millions of pounds worth of stock that was on order from manufacturers importers and distributers that was winging its way to them by container ship, train, airplane and lorry. Stock which in the current climate no other retailer wants to buy.

It seems our friends at Churchill Palmer Mackenzie Asset management acquired it. They have just taken delivery of Several Hundred Lorries worth of stock which they are storing in 24 distribution depots across the country. CPM has chosen Boffer as their preferred ecommerce partner to liquidate part of the stock the stock.

CPM has already trialed several products on Boffer on behalf of an unnamed high-street retailer and has been blown away by the volume of stock that the site has been able to sell in the space of 24 hours.
Boffer creator Oli Shields said "We are extremely excited to be working with CPM Asset Management. The business has a wide range of clients that will give us access to a significantly larger product range and bring greater value to our 75,000 registered members.

"This agreement will also allow us to provide a more extended range during our regular sell-offs which include home ware, games, toys, gardening equipment, DVD movies and sports and electronic equipment."

CPM Asset Management managing director Alfi Ariff added: "Boffer is a fantastic website that offers our clients the opportunity to dispose of vast amounts of valuable excess stocks quickly and effectively and discreetly.

The first of the stock supplied to boffer by CPM will be included in our sell off starting at 11.59pm on Sunday 15th of February.

    Nope.. fraid not!

EDIT: Sorry, I may have mis-understood the question. Do you mean can you buy a number of items across a sell-off and then pay for them at the end (with one shipping charge), or do you mean can you change the quantity of a a product to more than one?

    Another sell-off starting Monday night..!

Lauren from Boffer e-mailed me asking to give ye a heads-up and also an offer for us boardsies, entering 'boards.ie' in the discount code box will give us free delivery on the 'Bit On The Side' for the duration of the sell-off.

Just to clarify.. from 11.59pm on Monday night, entering 'boards.ie' as a discount code will give us free delivery (presumably still will be liable to the £5 surcharge though) for the 'Bit On The Side' section. This discount code will be valid for the duration of the sell-off (which will probably last about 72 hours or so).
