Hey, I'm Rob. Been a visitor on boards for ages but I only bothered to register today :P

I'm based in Dublin, in third year of a BA in Photography in DIT at the moment, totally loving it. I mainly shoot gigs, portraits and landscape stuff.

Weapon of choice is a 5D and selection of lenses.

    Good to be here!

    herro.

i'm 26 and irish/australian. about five years ago I was given a sony cybershot. i was living in HK at the time and found it to be the perfect place to fall in love with being behind a lens. I worked the crap out of that little point and shoot and I owe my entire Hong Kong set to it. the camera actually died last week and i have to say, i was a little devastated. it got me into something i'm gonna love for the rest of my life.

about a year after i started taking pictures, i interviewed this man who took wonderful things like this. he showed me his work and then i knew i was hooked on the idea of shooting with film. (he died a week later).

when i moved to dublin, i did a wonderful darkroom course in the gallery of photography in order to kick start shooting with film. a friend lent me a canon eos 100 (i later bought my own) and my great aunt passed down her nikon FM, nikon F50 and several lenses, including a lovely 28mm and 50mm. i love shooting on ilford hp5 plus 400 and neopan 1600.

while this was going on i was also saving like mad for a dslr and got my nikon d80 late last year. i can't partake in overly technical conversations cos i truly have no idea what the hell anyone is going on about - that goes for post processing too. i'm a journalist but hope to someday relay news from behind a lens.

i love the sweaty-palmed excitement of getting a roll developed and taking pictures of bikes and street.

    Hi Guys

First Camera: I start out taking picture with my Dads Canon AE-1 when very small.
After a bad experiences with crappy P&S I bought a Nikon F80 at college. I sadly
parted ways with it in bizzare circumstance involving SAS and Danish Police.

Current Kit: I then bought a Canon AE-1 of my own and after much thought went
digital last January with a Nikon D40x.

Photographic Interests: Mostly I shoot landscapes & Film I would like to do some
work with medium format and improve at Documentary/Portraiture photography

Profession: I'm a physicist; specialising in scientific imaging and optical systems,
but currently working as an electronic engineer by necessity rather than design.

Other Hobbies: Martial Arts, Hiking/Climbing and Sailing

    will post portrait later...

My name is Christine, I'm 23 years old and I'm from Montreal.

I got my first camera (a crappy kodak point and shoot whose viewfinder was hugely innacurate) when I was 8 years old. The first thing I did was wind the film all the way up without using any of it. After that my parents decided to show me how to use it a bit :)

My dad had a film SLR and I always wanted one of my own. I finally got a Nikon F55 when I was 17, although I honestly should have researched that decision a bit better.

I used to spend hours at the Botanical Gardens in Montreal, and eventually the cost of film processing was just too much. I made the switch to digital with a Canon Rebel XTi (or 400D here) two years ago. I have a sigma 18-200mm and a canon 100mm macro.

I haven't really taken many photos since moving to Ireland in September 2007. To be perfectly honest, I haven't exactly been very happy here, so I haven't been inspired. Hoping to force myself to get back into it until it feels natural again. I took my first photos for months in Manchester over the weekend - although that's not in Ireland so I guess it doesn't count.

    Hi I'm Aaron,
I've started posting here more frequently lately so thought I better introduce myself. I got into photography through taking pictures at concerts and it's developed into a great hobby for me.
Had used an Olympus C-700 for years before I got my first DSLR in the form of Canon's EOS 400d at the end of 2006, also use a more compact Canon SX100 when it's not convenient to carry the bigger camera.
I've taken night courses in photographic theory and Photoshop and am currently studying for a Diploma in photography from home.

I love Flickr so feel free to add me as a contact.

Aaron, I just noticed your sig now... Curious question, would it have any to do with the greatest band from Belgium ever, called dEUS...?

My names Damien, I'm 33.. from South East but living in Dublin for about 10 years now.. Working in IT, but in the little spare time I have, my camera isnt far from my grasp..

Been a long time poster on boards and a long time observer here, but rarely posted in the photography forum as dont really know a lot about photography so just happy reading and taking the info in.. :)

Always loved photography, always fascinated by it, but never had the money to get myself a decent camera, so usually was stuck with the bog standard digital camera until I was away on hols a while back and took a risk, got myself a Nikon D40x that I got for a bargin price in Dubai Duty Free.. gotta love it :D

Only decided to do this after a 3 day safari in Kenya and was disappointed that the only camera I had on the trip was a crappy point and click digital camera and out of the 500 odd photos, only about 20 were good enough to even consider keeping..

Pic is on the way, just need to find one that wont scare people too much and get me banned from here :D:eek:

    Tox

Hi, my name is Paul and I have been a reader of boards.ie for a long time.
I decided to create an account when I got my new Nikon D40. :D

Have not really had much time lately to get out and get a few decent shots so I am mainly reading up on forums and photography websites and just generally playing with the settings.
