Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Installing Ubuntu for triple boot with XP and Vista in a RAID 1 configuration trouble

    Basically I have 8 hard disks. 2 Disks in a raid 1, 4 disks in a raid 5 and 2 more in a raid 0.

I want too install Unbuntu, Vista and xp on the Raid 1 in seperate partitions.

What I tried doing was installing XP, then vista which went fine.

But the problem I'm having is that Ubuntu seems too not see the raid correctly and treats all the drives as seperate drives.

Also grub doesn't seem too install correctly probably as a result of that.

I'm using Gigabyte G-Raid for the raid 1. And the intel matrix too raid the rest of the drives.

The motherboard I have is a Gigabyte GA-X48-DQ6

I'm also using the latest unbuntu downloaded from their website.

Is it a problem that linux just doesn't support these raid controllers and I just have too put it on a non raided hard disk ?

Does anyone know of any work arounds for this ?

Any ideas on how to remedy this issue. I have used Linux many times, but I have never installed it using these onboard raid controllers. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Linux see's through your "Fake Raid", ie your mobo is tricking Windows in2 seeing a single hd. I've the same problem as I've 2x Raptors in Raid 0 one way round it is to virtualise linux which works fine for me. Whats happening with your grub installation is that it doesn't write to the existing Mbr on the raided hd's.
