Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Is the bike market as depressed as the car market

I have been out of contact with biking in general this past few years but still held on to my 1989 Honda CBR750 all the same. Have been taking it on the odd run now and again but it is spending nearly all its time in my garage and I should really offload it. Is there a market for such a thing and anyone any idea what it is worth. It is not modified in any way and in really good nick. Engine overhaul last year. I won't go into the detail but seeing as this is the end of our summer (with summers like this I am looking forward to winter) perhaps there would be zero interest?????

If it's in good condition there's a market for it alright. If possible hold off until next spring. The bike is considered a modern classic by alot of people and the money is there for clean unmolested bikes.

Eh, yeah. The bike market is struggling and your bike while it may be very good, is competing with VFR750's and CBR600's. The seasonal adjustment matters little when there is no demand at the start, middle or end of the year.

The CBR750 was never sold here so the demand will be low unless you can sell it to a collector. Its got to be worth a grand to someone...

Stick it up on some UK sites, they may pay more over there for a decent clean bike and they have a bigger market. Most people here will see 89 and think it's a junker.

Thanks for replies, I expect that any 1989 vehicle would be a big turn off to 95% of the population at least. So I have no illusions about available buyers. People who are trying to sell cars are having great difficulty getting buyers to make contact so I suspect its no different for bikes. However whatever type of vehicle it is if the price is about a grand then you will always get a few people tempted. I would be willing to let the CBR go for 1,000euro even though I spent 700euro last year on engine and 450 the year before on stainless exhaust and hardly drove it in between. I don't seem to have the time or the inclination to use it these days. What method of selling works best these days for bikes? Is it buyandsell, carzone? Any recommendations?

is that a CBR750 Hurricane - Like this

If so, good bike. Better value than a scooter for commuting medium distances.....

    Ode To The Motorist

“And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, generates funds to the exchequer. You don't want to acknowledge that as truth because, deep down in places you don't talk about at the Green Party, you want me on that road, you need me on that road. We use words like freedom, enjoyment, sport and community. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent instilling those values in our families and loved ones. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”

Same bike type except the colour scheme is more like the one in this picture except mine is not modified with a single side swing arm.

I have the bike since 1997 and have driven it around europe (France Italy Corsica, Holland) so I know that commuting any distance is a doddle to this bike

They're great bikes (bulletproof engines), the market isn't great but a clean bike at a good price will sell.
Your head's screwed on right with the asking price, she should move fairly lively. Advertising on donedeal, biker.ie etc should work.

are you selling dis bike me man?

Yep I intend to sell it. I started it up over the weekend and I went to drive it and discovered I had no helmet. I gave a loan of it to a guy months ago and never got it back. If you want to see it bring a helmet as I would like to take it for a spin myself. It must be 3 months now since it was driven. PM me if you are interested.......
