Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi
Im running windows xp 32 bit I think, its giving me an option lately to update to service pack 3 but when I click ok it gives me this message

"it is recommended you back up everything"(or somthing to that effect anyway) ive never gotten that kind of msg when windows was updating, just wondering has anyone else using xp,did they get this option to update to service pack 3?and also will it make any difference if I dont update to it?

    I appreciate any advice.

its just microsoft covering their ass. there have been some reported cases of the service pack updates forcing people to reformat on unstable machines. But to be honest those are fairly isolated cases.

You can proceed without backing up your data and if the installation is successful no harm no foul. if it goes wrong theres a very slim percentage chance you might lose data, so you may want to move any really important data (CD keys, passwords, treasured photos) off the C drive. More often than not if the installation fails windows automatically rolls back before any of the changes are permanent and youll get an installation fail error - in that case youve lost no data. so like i said, very very slim chances of data loss here.
