Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

We've another set of wheels into the family, Yammaha (sp) FZ400.

Thats right a motorbike.

Whatever about being mad into cars i've never been into bikes, its the mothers partners. He took me out in in and i've never been so scared in all me natural.

Suppose i'll be a provisional bike holder now!

Any 4 wheel petrol heads on here that are fond of the two wheel variety?

I've always wanted a bike but I wouldn't trust myself on one. I'd be dead within 15 minutes of getting on one. It takes a certain kind of person to be a successful motorcyclist and I'm certainly not that kind of person

There IS a motorbike forum, you know ...:D

My little chopper is sadly languishing in the shed.
I admit to being a fair weather biker only (oh the shame :D) and fair weather isn't really happening (not when I have time anyway). Bike insurance is ridiculous money (especially in comparisopn to the few hours when I could actually use the bike) so it will continue to languish, I'm afraid.

+1 for me too. I love the idea of bikes; their power to weight is enough to make your mouth water but realistically I'd lose either my life or my license.

I know, just was wondering if that people are into both cars/bikes, or is it a either or ither.

Feel free to move.

It's certainly one thing i can live my life without ever knowing, but now that we have one in the household there is no excuse not to use it.

Story bud,

A man after my own heart. I'm doing the bike test on Friday. Got me first provisional in Feb last and it's been a righteous experience, though you will notice a very strong anti-car (cage) tone in the biker world.

Let me know if there's anything your fussed over and want to know- licenses are a little confusing in the beginning. We cagers have to stick together in the bike world;)

GET TRAINING
(you may have to get training and an assessment if you want any kind of bigger cc bike- my first was a bandit and now I'm on a GSX1400)

Ever heard of a restrictor? What do you think it's for?

It's only about 20kg heavier than the bandit but much easier to ride.

Hi Tomohawk,

Actually technically the OP could be driving the busa on a provisional with full insurance cover.
The law for restriction only came into effect in 1999. Those who have provisionals and never bothered going for their test (funnily enough i know quite a few of these people) do not have to have any restrictions on their licence.

With regard to insurance , yes you are covered. With regard to the law no you are not.
However.... Check out MAG irelands website, Ireland is the only country in europe without a direct access sceme. In fact, many of our training courses are recognised in other EU countries for valid direct access... e.g. ROSPA rider training to silver grade in Britain.
The law in this regard is stupid, absolutely rediculous. It enables a newbie to buy a bike this summer. pass his test a few weeks later. Then only use it every summer for a few days and boom in 2 years time he/she can be riding an r1 or a blade with a greater power to weight than a veyron.

Seven months from a provisional A licence to a gsx1400 (restricted). That's some experience curve all the same. Point taken re law agent_smith!!
