Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

City game kicks off at 3.25pm Irish time on Thursday, meaning a nice early 10.25pm for me! :D

Better than those middle of the night kick offs anyway.

    St Patrick's Athletic V Elfsborg
    Kick Off: 19:45
    Live on RTÉ Radio 1

Bohs seem certain to win the league, so I suppose we'll just have to concentrate on winning the UEFA cup.

Really not sure what way this going to go, but I suspect the first goal will be crucial.

Pats and Elfsborg should get it's own thread.

I'd rather not talk about our performance right now.

What the feck is wrong with City? They have a good squad and manager. Why so bad?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,492 ✭✭✭MementoMori

Midtjylland on top at the moment - look like the team more likely to score. Citeh seem bereft of ideas in the final third at the moment.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,492 ✭✭✭MementoMori

Just as I type it City have their best half-chance of the half

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,492 ✭✭✭MementoMori

Great chance for Midtjylland there - striker should have hit the target. City looking vulnerable to long-balls

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,492 ✭✭✭MementoMori

Another shocking miss from Midtjylland's striker blazed over w only Hart ot beat when he had a easy header:D

Jo taken off - had a mare from what I saw

Obviously, the inevitable anxiety that accompanies the potential meeting with St Pats in the next round is getting to them.

Very harsh on Midtjylland what what I saw of the second half.

I thought City would be ok after their performance at the weekend.

Who is the Setanta commentator? Seems a bit "special"

Extra-time will be very interesting - No-one on the City side could be said to have played well but they have a chance now. How Midtjylland's players react to the goal is the key issue?

Has to be a decent chance of penalties given how poor the strikers have been on both side

Hopefully Villas Icelandos wont be as vexing as those playing against City, and with the 4-1 lead i think a run for the kids & reserves is in order for what is sure to have pre season written all over it, but stranger things have happened. Salifou to start anyone?
Aston Villa left-back Nicky Shorey is out with a knee injury he sustained in the defeat by Stoke on Saturday.

Villa lead 4-1 from the first leg against Hafnarfjordur and boss Martin O'Neill could use his side's commanding position to rotate his squad.

Striker Marlon Harewood, defender Zat Knight and midfielder Craig Gardner could each be handed starts.

"We are in a commanding position and we don't want to throw it away. We're after a happy medium," said O'Neill.

Villa (from): Friedel, Luke Young, Laursen, Davies, Reo-Coker, Barry, Petrov, Ashley Young, Carew, Agbonlahor, Taylor, Harewood, Knight, Salifou, Routledge, Gardner, Osbourne.

Ireland might have got more on that header if he wore his hair for the game :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,909 ✭✭✭✭Xavi6

Jeez Johnson should have won it there.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,492 ✭✭✭MementoMori

Double Miss by Johnson and Ireland there

Very poor from Johnson - one-on-one with the keeper awful shot straight at him Ireland skims free header wide

Sturridge ball in the back of the net but offside

    City playing much better now
