Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I don't know anything about this guy, never heard of him but I knew they were looking for short term cover. I'm not happy about this at all, they should show more faith in the young local lads, there's some decent talent there.

+1 Another dig for Coughlan and Niall Ronan.

That could be said about any coach bringing in foreign players.

It's cover for two months, now is the time to be getting this in place not if Coughlan or Ronan picks up an injury after the season has started, both of these players will get their chances wait and see.

Ronan moved to Munster in the hope of getting more of a chance as he is more of a genuine 7 than Wally. He would have been better off going to Connaught or Ulster.

That should have been a straight red!!!

Surely tho with quinny & Wallace still fit there still 2 hugely experienced guys who should be able to ease the transition of a younger player into the team.
Must say I’m surprised Keogh didn’t go back cause I cant see him getting much time with Leinster this season

The problem is with Ronan is that he's a 7 and a 7 only. It's a position that if you specialise in, and you're behind somebody else, you're not that likely to see much gametime. More versatile players will always get to the bench before you. Ronan was excellent last year and I hope he'll see a fair bit of gametime this season. When Wallace is rested/injured, he's a dead cert for the 7 shirt.
I'm assuming that Melk is a 6 or 8, which is where we're lacking any real dept at the moment. I'd rather we gave the Irish lads a chance, but they are all very inexperienced, except for John O'Sullivan, who you can never be sure will be fit for a season.

    There's a reason why they're inexperienced.

Yes, because they (apart from O'Sullivan) are academy players and not yet ready for top flight rugby. Maybe they never will be. there's no guaruntee that they're good enough.

Neither Coughlan nor Ronan are academy players.

I have already addressed the issue with Ronan. Coughlan doesn't really matter, this is his last season with Munster as he's pursuing a different career from rugby when his contract is up.
