Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

There is a terrible selection of left backs

it's hilarious bias, that's what it is!

Well considering only one City fan has posted in the thread and Kompany has been in more than one team I don't see where bias comes into it.

As for Richards at right back, yes he plays the majority of his City games in the centre but he did play there a good bit last season and has played for England there too.

His performances over the last year in Germany were not great by all accounts. I think he makes a fair point but right now, in another ten games if he were to continue playing as well he would certainly make my top 11 team and that includes the top four.

    Ahead of Mascherano. That's hilarious

Theres nothing hilarious about it. He was the best player on show in any premiership game last weekend and by a county mile.
I said earlier that I would not pick him yet, but your comment is ludicrous. How can you possibly say that if he continues to play the way he did last weekend(best in EPL) that he is not ahead of everyone for that postition?

because i too watched the city game last weekend. And to say that if he repeats his performance for 10 games you would pick him over anyone else in the league in his position, when Mascherano played consistently much better than that for 50 games last season (against 11 men too) is a little premature.
He was good last weekend, but so were stephen Ireland and Martin Petrov, possibly more so than Kompany

pfft, don't be so sensitive. I was refering to a specific post. Football fans are too easily swayed

I'd be a ****ing great pundit.

first thing i'd do is put duck tape over richard keys mouth, shave his hairy hands, and put a bag over his head so the poor viewers wouldnt be subjected to his face over their sunday dinners.

    No, no and no.
They had excellent games but he ran the show.

against a ten man west ham. Come back to me when he does it in a champions league final, as Masch did in 07, keeping Kaka in his pocket until he was substituted

    Given

    --Beye
    Laursen---Dunne----Lescott-

    --Spiderman---Barry----Diarra
    Young--

    Berbatov----Owen

Habib Beye, probably the most underraed player in the EPL, absolute quality right back.

If the likes of Kompany are getting in there based on a game against a crap hammers side, then the man who tormented the right flank at Old Trafford is in there for me. In all honesty though, I do expect Gutierez to be a standout buy this season.

Owen has to be in there for his goal to game ratio.

Spiderman was ****ing brilliant in that game alright.

Two things, I didn't pick him in my team for this. So I am not one to get carried away.
I said that if he keeps playing like this, he will certainly be in my best prem 11, of course if someone like Mascherano plays better than him over that period I would pick the better player. But realistically I don't see either of them performing to the level that Kompany did last weekend on a weekly basis.
I am not a City fan, nor a Liverpool fan either, in fact I would have more reason to dislike any performance from a City player than any other prem side at this moment in time with our ex manager currently running the show there.
I just say it as I see it and some people are blinded by club colours.
If you look at my team, I picked Bentley who I despise for leaving us for a non top four club. I did not pick Stephen Warnock who would be up there for left full outside the top four. I only picked Santa Cruz from my own club who has been surprisingly overlooked by many and Berbatov picked ahead of him.
It seems to me that, and as mentioned by another poster, too many people get carried away by the hype surrounding certain players.
You hear all the stuff concerning Berbatov and basically if you look at his perfromances last season and compare them to Santa Cruz, there is no doubt in my mind that he comes out second, a close second but still behind Santa Cruz.

I'm not saying he's crap (and as a Villa fan, I'm sure you've watched him over 90 minutes plenty more times than I have so you're in a better place to judge) - it's more that Football Manager/Fantasy Football ratings (especially involving comparisons of numbers of direct assists) are just a pet hate of mine  as they're not the full story. Maybe I should have said overrated by people who don't know enough to rate him (myself included - he seems good but I don't really know his game particularly well).
I have no interest in fantasy football, and I haven't played Football Manager in years, so stop jumping to conclusions. I picked Lescott because I watch him in match of the day (and while a highlights show isn't the final say by any stretch, it's a far cry from picking him based on some fantasy football nubmers) every week and I'm really impressed by him, defending as well as going forward.
If you actually watched him play, instead of discounting him simply because of this high fantasy football rating that you're talking about, then you'd probably agree.
