wwe talent, bad attitude towards fans?

has anyone had any bad experiences with wwe talent where they werent in a meet n greet??

the reason i ask is, i arrived into indianapolis airport for summerslam and i saw dh smith and mvp, after much deliberation we went up to mvp and asked for a photo, and i have to say he wasnt the friendliest guy, he did take it and pose but he didnt say much tho so we put it down to his character.

the day after summerslam we were flyin outta summerslam and who should we see but shawn michaels and his family, his wife and kids, it was weird as his limo pulled up beside us as we were gettin out of our car, he walked ahead of us to the terminal then went to the same checkin desk, then we went to the gate and he was in the same area!
i plucked up the courage to ask for a photo and he was like 'eh not today man'
i couldnt believe it as earlier he had taken a photo with someone else,
i just put it to him havin a bad day or somethin, but i felt like an idiot for askin and him sayin no!

then about an hour later who should we see, but good ol jr!
after the michaels debale i debated whether to ask but i did as he was on his own, i went up and he seemed shocked at being asked and was like eh um eh um, so i said look its cool forget it, then he said look go ahead man,
so i took it, and while i was taking it, to initiate conversation i said, we flew all the way from ireland to see the show, and he said nothin, and again i felt like an idiot!

please tell me someone else has had a similar experience so i havent lost my faith in all wwe talent!!!

i met regal and finlay at a signing back in 06 and regal was a gent talked to me and thanked me for coming and made eye contact. Finlay wore sunglasses shook my hand said nothing and signed my picture. I would of expected more of a guy who was the "hometown" hero.

I've had both great and horrible experiences with guys who I met on multiple occasions. It all probably depended on the time of the day that I met them, whether there was a big crowd of fans present, how long they had been on the road etc.
Having said that, its always been a pleasure to meet John Cena, but JBL has always been somewhat of a prick

having seen first hand what the WWE guys experience i cannot blame some of them for being a bit standoffish. american wrestling fans are so annoying, they follow the wrestlers everywhere and keep pestering them; we met matt bloom aka albert/a-train/giant bernard one night in new york with about 30 fans following him around town, he still had time to say hello to us though.

most wwe/ex wwe/tna/roh guys and gals i have met have been great though, people like foley, cena, bob orton, kane, steve austin, the rock, ron simmons etc are so down-to-earth in person its hard to believe

Rey Mysterio at the Easons book signing in 2005 for "Are We There Yet", turned up late, barely said two words, and rushed people through the signing. I'm of the understanding that Easons botched that signing, but Rey certainly didn't help.

Part of what was wrong with that signing was the security. It was like placing your book in an airport scanner and collecting it at the other end while being escorted by security.
The Foley signing on the otherhand was everything that a book signing should be.

He totally ignors everyone(only a handful of people). The last time he simply walked around the hotel lobby a number of times, ignoring anyone who said hello to him, then grabbed his bags and left for the bus.

I've never liked Easons signings, HMV Grafton St signings have always gone smoothly for me, security staff even took pics.

Ironically enough, i've never bought another damn thing out of Easons since then.

I agree, Foley was awesome, but the guy specifies "when they weren't at a meet and greet", so I don't think it counts.

Wow, HBK would be one of many on my "list", but maybe not now....

Ha ha, after he said "Not today", you should have asked him "When then?!"

A friend of mine, occasionally stalks wrestlers when they are in england, in particular, Birmingham.
She has family there so she stays there.

But she heads down to the hotel where the rumours are that they stay and apparently (i have seen pictures, so there is no reason to doubt this)
some of them actually remember her from every year and nearly expect to see her, Matt Hardy would be one of these.

Wrestlers are people remember, they arent always who they are on tv, to meet them is a cool moment, but if they are who they reflect on telly in a good way, that always makes it better.
As people they can be selfish, arrogant, un responsive.

But what do they care to them if they sign this or not?
What are they loosing? One fan?
they will still have another million watching them next week.......

outside of that book signing in easons i have met foley 2-3 other times and he has been really nice. the last time i have a good 10 minute chat with him at the westin in chicago about 2 days before WM22, we couldn't convince him to come to "Scores" with us though even though half the WWE roster were there.

Agree with the bit in bold. JBL certainly doesn't seem the most approachable, just brushed past us two years ago, as did Batista.

Have met Cena about 3 or 4 times and each time he was down to earth and friendly. From experience, others who seem to have alot of time for fans would be Paul London, Lilian Garcia (I remember outside the Clarion, she put her suitcase on the bus and came back and signed autographs for every person there!!) and Jeff Hardy.

lillian is really lovely, met her in orlando last time, so thin though

london was actually spending time in fans rooms at the hilton during WM20

There job is stressful, but I agree if you are going to a meet and greet or signing they should leave it at the ****ing door mate. But it also goes both ways dont approach a wrestler when he is with his family or whatever.

when wwe was in the point (both raw n SD) i was workin and had to go around opening the emergency exits so was in the "Green room" as it is! met taker, regal, batista, JBL and crispin wah, i have to say taker and regal were great, they said hello and seemed excited abotu the show etc, batista barely looked at us we got a grunt and a nod, JBL seemed alright when he is not in character which i suppose he has to be when he is in the public eye, and i dont like talkin about the other guy......so i wont!

I was coming back from Cardiff in 2006 after seeing Motley Crue, the Big Show and Stone Cold were in Dublin airport. Some tool was giving Big Show serious jib, mouthing off at him for some reason, Big Show stood up and the dude ran away. I went over, expecting him to be really angry and whatnot but he was bang on, shook my hand, gladly stood for a couple of pics. Stone Cold was a spa though, didn't even look when I put my hand out to shake his hand.

    My experiences!

Was at a book signing in WWE New York back in 2001 for Kurt Angle's book.

Probably had the longest conversation with him than any of the other fans there. But that was because he (and the security/assistants there) couldn't understand how to pronounce/spell "Colm".

I generally wouldn't approach anyone in the street/ in a shop/ etc. At organised events fair enough, but outside I think people have the right to live their lives without being hassled. (also any time I see someone famous (proper famous! not fair city famous) on the street I'd never think of something to say if I did approach them.

Yeah i agree somewhat but if you are from Ireland and you have one chance to try to get an autograph or picture with a legend like Shawn Michaels you are going to have to take it no matter the outcome

In fairness to my original point Shawn is unlikely to be with his family when visiting Ireland, is he? But still I take your point, Wrestlers do have to be more accessible on certion occasions than others, Wrestlemania Week/Weekend comes to mind.

He can keep away from my waiver, eh was funny though the match was only just confirmed and is meant to be unsanctioned and straight away there is a big graphic for it, it's the little things!

The soundest wrestlers i've met have were Hernandez and Homicide,
As for WWE Edge, Chavo,Lilian. Beth, Regal and Victoria are all very nice, Still have limited arm movement from a Snitsky handshake hehe, Regal was doing this thing where he would make his page of the autograph book kiss Balls mahoney and say what did i do to deserve being beside him (i dunno a couple of suspensions maybe)

Biggest knob i've met so far is Alex Shelley the man loves himself a tad too much

Ive heard the same thing from people, he has apparently the reputation of being Mr. Bad First Impression. Once you get to know him he is meant to be fine.

Has anyone met CM Punk? Is he fan friendy? Id really like to know this.

I once read that when he went through his heel stint in ROH he was pretty much the same when he would meet people, he would still sign and take pictures etc etc, but he would be "Grouchy".

but now he's as nice as pie, a friend of mine met him in some airport in england before his major push, just before the ECW championship run.

A friend of mine met him in Belfast this year and she said he was really rude to her and her family member.

I guess, as said before, it all depends on what type of environment you happen to meet them in (meet and greet compared to airport/hotel/outside a show or time of day etc)

I don’t think he has changed personality wise, he hasn’t really reformed himself to any great degree going by reports. He was never really Gouchy in bad get out of my face way, just really sarcastic which gives off a bad first impression. I guess now Punk is taking things more seriously.

I asked this about Punk because as Champion he is a lead representative of the company and Vince McMahon takes accessibility and fan friendliness VERY seriously among this Champions in particular. He has used lack of fan friendliness as part of the rationale to take titles off people; Ultimate Warrior is a primary example as he was get out of my face type. Vince McMahon was the first promoter every to tell all his heels to sign autographs back in the 1980's as well.

He did take a pic with her and all but afterwards he seem to have a change in attitude going by what I was told. When approached by some fans he said stuff along the lines of 'dont touch me' and 'what the ****', they had simple asked for an autograph/photo afaik....again I'm just going by what I was told.

Some people might have good experiences when meeting him, other might catch him (or anyone else) on a bad day.

Chris Jericho was a very cool person when I met him. Spent the whole time talking about the first maiden early days tour.

Hurricane/Gregory Helms was a bit of a prick. Might have just met him on an off day

Kurt Angle and Trish Stratus were fine when I met them in HMV. Angle said i was one of the few that said thank you to him for the autograph.

Met RVD on the streets of manchester. Said he would give an autograph but didnt have the time to stop. Met Great Khali as well who was shockingly nice. Big language barrier but he gave me and a friend a thumbs up and smile as we were leaving. Assume thats good

This is slightly off topic but after reading an interview by Lanny Poffo aka. "The Genius" (see picture below) I decided to go to his website.

He has a children's poetry book at a pretty cheap price and given my line of work, I thought for the hell of it I'd buy it.

So I ordered it yesterday and woke up to find an e-mail from him asking me would I like it signed and what message to put on the book. I never requested this.

Anyway, we've exchanged a couple of e-mails since then (explaining why I wanted the book and such) and he comes across so friendly and enthusiastic, it's almost hard to get rid of him!

Maybe he has someone doing the order for him but I just thought I'd share it.

EDIT: New e-mail from Lanny. He's sending me out his other book free of charge! Here's his site. I feel he deserves a plug: http://www.lannypoffo.com/

When it comes to those blokes that wait about outside arenas and that hours after and before shows, HHH is supposed to be so dead on, signs stuff, talks to people, obviously its through a gate, so it would be difficult for photos.

Heres a question for you guys:

Name 3 wrestlers who are still alive and somewhat active at the moment, who you would like to meet and what would you say to them?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,632 ✭✭✭SuperWoody101

Matt Morgan and John Cena are two great guys. Took the time out to talk and take pics with me and my ex. Cena talked to us for about an hour while the other wrestlers sit at the back of the pub drinking. I bought Cena a bottle of Coors light and he bought me and the ex 4 vodkas and red bulls. Very nice guy. JBL was also there that night (he is a total prick) but I did get a pic with him. And yes VR it was the same night I meet Orlando Jordon in the jacks!! :D

    Yep.

He is different alright but I find it hard not to like his quirkiness. He even suggested to me that a trip could be arranged for him "to visit the children of the Emerald Isle"!

Stranger things have happened (although not much stranger).

I've met Gregory Helms, absolutely bang on chap and is surprisingly pretty big in person!

My mate was doing security for one of the gigs in the Point. He had chats with Randy Orton, Jeff Hardy and Mickie James and they were all really sound and relaxed he said. But he said Cena was a bit aloof with him, must have been having a bad day judging by all the positive remarks about him in this thread.

My mate said Khali was a funny bastard aswell.:pac:

I’ve heard some "interesting" stuff come out of his mouth that made me cringe. Nothing bad like or reflect badly on him as a human being mind. All Ill say he confirmed in an interview the Wrestlecrap site that the main rumour about him with is brought up on every shoot tape when his name is brought up. But if your experience is positive than amen to that.

I've never met any WWE guys but meeting Kenta Kobashi wasa memory i'll treasure forever. I couldn't believe how relaxed, laid back and on for a bit of craic he was, considering the journey he'd had. He's obviously a very special person.

The Briscoes as well are sound out, in fact almost all the ROH roster are incredibly approachable and down to earth. Prince Nana is a riot, although Jimmy Rave is a sullen, miserable looking c*nt.

LOL, I went to the ROH VIP party in Liverpool when the last came to the UK and had a ball at it. Everyone there was sound out. Joe and Homicide are gas when drunk, the Briscoes could drink for Ireland (two great guys) Nigel McGuinness is a true gent, talked to him for ages, very cool guy, even Gabe had time to have a drink and a chat with us. Paid 14 quid to get in and it was a free bar. One of the best nights out ever.

It was glorious. Match of Year 2007 purely on emotion and when he hit that moonsault it was moment odf the decade so far in any promotion. Even Honda on commentary was blubbing.
