Looking for any recommendations on a whole new system. Still working on agp and a slow ass pc. Looking for something like this one on Komplett, handy knowing everything is already tested and working well. Is the 2 x SLI cards a problem??

Well I can't see that machine anywhere on the site. And also the stock report is a bit unerving "Stock status: 1 pcs expected on stock 1972-02-21 "

Are you planning on playing games ?
I don't like them video cards.

I see the '1 piece expected on' bit now, but it says 2008-09-04 before you go to the checkout. This pc is in the PC-Komplett PCs & Notebooks-Gamer SLI section and i just changed it slightly. I was looking for something that would be a big all rounder. Fit for games and video. Used to be fairly familiar with cards and stuff but haven't a clue anymore. Had a look at Overclockers and saw this , it and Komplett are the only two I've ordered stuff from in the past.

Read here, same questions answered just yesterday. :)

In summary- Komplett should be ashamed of themselves for advertising dual 8500GT's as gaming cards for a gaming machine, you would have to play most of the latest games on lowish settings with that junk...

One single 80 euro 256mb 8800GS would absolutely obilterate those 8500GT's by a huge margin, for example.

I'd say at this stage Komplett can go **** themselves, they just get worse and worse in my opinion and I haven't bought from them in a long time. Upgrading to 9600GT Sli for example brings that machine to almost 1.2k, an absolute joke. For that price elsewhere you'd build an infinitely better machine....in fact even buying parts from Komplett you'd save a lot of money by self-building. Just clearly shows the level of care Komplett have for their customers......I would love to see the face on somebody who got their brand spanking new 1k machine with dual video cards only to see Crysis limp by on low settings.

check out www.hardwareversand.de, for example, their prices make Komplett look ridiculous, and they only charge 20 euro for assembly, whereas with that price Komplett are clearly taking.....a little more.

For example, if you bought the parts separately - and assembling really is very easy - you can get something like this. Now, going for Hardwareversand and you'll save even more on this, by a good margin - it's only an example of why you shouldn't buy that pre-assembled piece of poo.

Radeon 4870 VS Dual 8500GT - this is the difference between running games at lowish settings on normal resolution and running any game including Crysis at high settings at relatively high resolution. Night and day simply doesn't cut it.

Blu-Ray/HD-DVD Reader vs DVD-RW - watch HD movies on your new machine.

4Gb vs 2Gb - twice the memory, speaks for itself.

Vista VS XP - no real reason to stick with XP at this stage.

750GB vs 500GB HD - much more storage space, 32mb vs 16mb too.

650w VS 550w PSU - same brand, much better for future upgrades.

The one thing the Komplett machine has going for it is a good motherboard, but drop down to a cheap one and you've still got an outrageously expensive machine, and I honestly don't think a user like you would benefit from such a board whatsoever.

DO NOT BUY FROM KOMPLETT they're are joke at this stage
thats a nice pc above but i'd still rather this from ankermann-pc and it would still crush everything on high bar crysis :D

Just had a look on the Hardwareversand website, it looks a good bit cheaper than Komplett. Had a go picking stuff from what you recommended, just a bit on the pricy side even though it seems like a beast.

At the moment the Intel chips and ATI graphics cards offer the best value for money. The following seem to be the sweet spots for price/performance:

If you're going for Quad core the Q6600 and Q9450 are both great overclockers. If its just for gaming a Dual core E8400 might be a bit better suited. Again, it overclocks like a dream.

As for the graphics card, really the only cards you should be considering are the AMD/ATI 4850 or 4870. Both will shred pretty much anything you can throw at them for a rediculously price. I'm guessing you dont really need SLI/XFIRE so you can make do with a cheap and cheerfull p45 motherboard.

Drop the 9800GTX for a cheaper HD4850, drop the pc-9200 ram for cheaper 6400 ram, I would also drop the Software Installation, waste of money really....cooler isn't necessary either, I use my Q6600 with the stock cooler and it's perfectly fine at stock and even for moderate overclocking (had mine at 3.2Ghz fine for a while)....X-Fi could also be changed, no real need for that expensive a one, the normal Xtreme Gamer is much cheaper...personally I went from an X-Fi back to my onboard and found it practically the same and I've a decent 5.1 setup....

Just a few suggestions, it would save you about 150 euro.

For example, same basic machine, not really compromising anything, but with 64-bit OS to utilize all that ram, and a much better video card. Add shipping and assembly and you're still under 1k. I noticed I also put in a slightly more expensive case, detract a tenner to use the original Alpha (which is a really nice case)

Have a selection under €900 (a copy of TerrorFirmers selection), cant find the 4870 so selected the 4850, is there much difference. At the top of my budget but could go slight bit if it would make a big difference. What about the €25 they have that will drop the noise level down, can't see that anywhere.

    Cheers for all the help.
