    Hello all,

I am thinking of possibly going to the USA and living there for a year or longer and working. I wouldn't be eligible for a J1 as if I did this it would be beacause I'd be leaving college. What would I have to do? I presume you can't just hop on a plane and go?

It's near impossible unless you are highly skilled in something. You could apply for the diversity visa lottery (green card) but I don't think they are accepting any applications yet for the 2010 entry and I think they screen all the applications there too.

Any other visas you need to have experience in your field which would be a H1 visa or a transfer visa within a company to the states which is a L1 visa, I think.

Moved to Abroad, as it's more a long-term thing.

Instesd of leaving college, would you not consider going to college over there? Much easier visa to get.

Hi, i just applied to an Au Pair programme, you get paid weekly, get a J1 visa and do some study while your there. I spent a long time trying to find a safe way to go to the USA and work as things here are bad!!
if you have any childcare exp just apply and see. (its cultural care) :)
