Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Whats the story in ballybofey and stranorlar. They r 2 big enough town with plenty to offer except for a festival. Many other smaller town manage to run a very good festival, so why can the twin towns.
I'm sure that there are enough bussiness and local people willing to help with the organisation of one. Had relations visiting last year and the enjoyed the festival greatly (Boat Race espically) and were wonderin if it was on the year aswell.

Its been a bit sporadic over the last few years. Just like letterkenny and other towns the days of the big or week long festivals are gone.

The problem with the twin towns is that the festivals have in recent times been run by the chamber of commerce but the chamber is largely inactive and is basically defunct. There are still a couple of people trying to keep the ship afloat but if it wasnt for the people employed on the FAS scheme administered by the chamber then there wouldnt have been a mini festival last year.

I havent heard of anything planned for this year but its a bit late now I would think.

the problem with organising a festival in B&S is that too many of the businesses in the town are self-serving and disinterested in altruism.
Speaking from experience, they all wanted a festival but nobody would
    - Donate money to running it
    - Help out in the running of it.
Then when they do get a chamber of commerce the amount of bickering going on to get the gig rig outside their business, it was destined to fail.

The one we had in 2001 I think it was, was unreal craic and everyone enjoyed it, but the person behind it stepped down after they sold their business and it never enjoyed the same success again

Was entered into that race. Was a great days craic. Had a ball and that was the reason for orginal post. Thought that it was a great day and well orgainised event. Everyone involved should be proud of what they have done as it was the only thing in the town this year and one af the best days out for all who attended. Roll on next year.
