The unseeded group is incorrect here, it's actually as per below.

    FC Honka Espoo (FIN)
    AC Bellinzona (SUI)
    NEC Nijmegen (NED)
    R. Standard de Liège (BEL)
    SSC Napoli (ITA)

    Didn't bother checking the others.

That would be the only winnable one for SPA IMO. Worst possible would be Spartak from every point of view, so its probably them they draw.

If they draw Milan I will be outrageously jealous.

    I reckon we'll get Partizan!!

Milan is the one i want though. All those games are tough so a trip to Italy would be nice!

The 18th and 2nd are the dates for the UEFA games, so obviously the 18th is a no go on the week of the all Ireland football final and given a replay the 5th is the day scheduled for that. The 2nd would be suitable of no football replay was in store.

Whats the story with the order of the home and away legs? Everton were seeded last year yet played home for the first leg.

CL games on both weeks on Tues/Weds, you'll need UEFA to give permission to play either day.

    What rating does Tolka have?

What makes Turners Cross rate higher than Tolka?

If it were to be outside Dublin so, it would almost certainly be RSC, as they have "in stadium" parking, and better press facilities than Turners Cross.

    from the BBC -

1200: The tension would be hard to slice through with a samurai sword. The presentation/ preamble for the draw has started bang on time. Chris Hall is the host at the Grimaldi forum. More packed than it was for yesterday's Champions League draw (because there are many more teams involved).

    (Nice 1000th post btw ;))

Hertha Berlin in the olympiastadion...! Excellent - can amble up for the away leg!

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

grand draw for us, handy to get to and only 2nd to AC in glamour stakes.

plus german tv means CHING CHING!!!!

Hertha Berlin is not a good draw for St Pats. Not enough glamour and far too difficult.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,605 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

Hertha Berlin for Pats, probably their second choice out of the possible opponents. Decent TV money to be had from a German team I'm sure

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 21,296 ✭✭✭✭gimmick

Its a better draw than getting Spartak anyway, thats for sure. Should be a money spinner as well for reasons KDJAC mentioned. Cannot see them progress though.

cue Ryanair staff bumping up the prices to berlin as we speak....

anyone know how many tickets Pats are likely to get for the away leg?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,337 ✭✭✭✭monkey9

It's not a bad draw in terms of destination. Are Pat's home first??

125 euro return at the moment for reference, presuming played as drawn and Berlin home first on the 18th.

I still dont get why is it problem SPA play on some bigger stadium in Ireland,is it coz of that stupid GAA rule?

Oh right, i was just going by the list on the first page of this thread

No, it is probably because of actual GAA games being played there in and around that time.

Yes, the lack of soccer facilities in Ireland is the GAA's fault.

Really this has all been covered before. Silly post.

I don't think that the Hertha game will be a moneyspinner on the TV front. There are 6 german team in the Uefa cup, and all will play on a thursday. Unlikely that german TV will show all matches.

Last year they usually only showed 4, and 1 of them on a local channel (which won't pay much for the rights). Hertha is also not one of the better supported clubs (compared to Hamburg, Schalke or Dortmund).
