The level of depth in these songs is incredable. It takes a while to actually scratch the dark veneer of some of the tracks. Parabol being a particular stand-out. It was also something of an artistic tangent as the previous albums were very hard and grungy in sound and lacked the intricate arrangements that this album demonstrated superbly.

Great album. I think tool in general are kinda 'meh', but this album is fan-bloody-tastic. As mentioned, it takes a bit of listening, but once you get into it, you won't regret it.

i could honestly bore people to tears discussing this album. its perfection in my opinion. its as deep as you want it to be, aggressive, beautiful, humourous, serious, its just.....art. its what i look for in music. i've dissected this album since it was released.....and its just ****ing brilliant to listen to stoned.

the song lateralus is pretty much perfect. the fact its built around the golden ratio is no coincidence. it was made to be beautiful.

ever listened to it through a centre canceller? everything in the middle of the mix is removed leaving only whats at the sides....the level of production is amazing....overdubs, hidden vocals. its an album that just keeps on giving
