What happened to Micheal to make him go blind?

    He has Stickler Syndrome. Among the symptoms is detachment of the retina.

    One retina became detached in childhood and later the other retina was affected. He had surgery (about 10 years ago) to have the retina reattached - unfortunately it was unsucessful.

    I think he went into the operation being blind in only one eye and came out completely blind.

    He copes incredibly well doesn't he? Even the little things like filling a glass of water he has little attachments for. He seems to fear spiders. That must be terrifying-like you know the way sometimes you think you feel something crawling on you and it's your imagination? Imagine you couldn't see.:eek: He has such an interest in what's going on around him, he takes everything in. Probably to make up for what he's missing visually.:(
