    Hi,

I'm currently using BT's 8mb service since the upgrade. I have two PCs connected one via wireless the other via ethernet.

On the PC connected via ethernet i can achieve speeds of 650k through any means of download.

When i use the PC connected via wireless (eircom netopia and Asus dongle) I cannot exceed speeds of 360k via any http or ftp downloads. I'm no more than 8 meters away from the router, when i download torrents I can max out the line over the the wireless connection but for some strange reason speeds are always limited through any other means of downloading.

I understand wirelss is terrible and I should really just run a cable to the second PC but I don't really want cables running all over the house.

I've tried changing channels and fiddled around with alot of the options within the router and the dongle but to no avail.

I can't understand why I can achieve full speeds over torrents but then my speeds are halved over any other form of download? If it was a case that it was down to wirelss logic would have it that my torrents should perform slightly less than my http downloads if anything?

Is there any solution to this or should i just start thinking cables?

These are my speed test results over wireless

    Last Result:
    Ping 47ms

Download Speed: 5095 kbps (636.9 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 396 kbps (49.5 KB/sec transfer rate)

    Thanks,

    Samba
