Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

i want to eliminate the possibilty of too much noise travelling upstairs in our house.
At the moment we are about to put in the frames for the stud walls and the carpenter says it is time do the floor before he lays the frame.

so at the moment is 18mm ply screwed to the joists.

i had thought of putting that 3mm rubber mat on the ply and then another layer of 12mm ply on top of that screwed to the joists with 60mm screws.

will this help with creaking , impact noise and general noise travelling up and down between flors?

there is also the choice of material to go in between the joists of which i have no idea at all so any advice greatly appreciated!

    thanks.

You are on the right track.
Rubber strips on top of joist prior to laying 18mm ply would have helped.
19mm plasterboard , laid between joist on metal "tophat" is quite good too.

Rubber strip under new stud walls will also help - kills vibrated sound.

18mm ply, with 5mm rubber, with 12mm ply on top, then 3mm underlay and 19mm pine t&g flooring.

Tightly pack joists with 75 - 100mm thick Rockwool.
Double slab ceilings - gives great sound proofing.

    Good luck
