Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. Blues eye stunning Ronaldo bid

    2/ 9/2008

PROSPECTIVE Manchester City owner Dr Sulaiman Al Fahim has said he is prepared to bid a staggering £134million for United star Cristiano Ronaldo in the January transfer window, according to a report.

Al Fahim, who is on the verge of taking over the Blues through his United Group for Development and Investment, is determined to make City the biggest club on the planet.

“Ronaldo has said he wants to play for the biggest club in the world, so we will see in January if he is serious," Al Fahim told Arabian Business, the newspaper that broke the original takeover story,

"Real Madrid were estimating his value at $160 million but for a player like that, to actually get him, will cost a lot more, I would think $240 million.

"But why not? We are going to be the biggest club in the world, bigger than both Real Madrid and Manchester United."

    Also in the Daily Mail.

    Lol this is brilliant!

If they wave enough cash in front of him I think he'd go..and I dont think anyone would turn down 134 million even selling to city.

Well, they've immediately made City the biggest circus in the world. Farcical.

I'm liking the style of these Abu Dhabi fellows. They seem to like to make statements that piss off Manyoo.

It would be good if they announced they were going to buy Manyoo, then disband the team and sell Old Trafford to Oldham Athletic or Bury or something. :pac:

I agree, it would have been better in the exiting Man City thread.

Apparently they're going to bid £125m to have Fergie be the new kit man.

Nah they can keep him, G. Neville and Rio.

This is outrageous stuff, football got a lot more interesting yesterday.

Does anyone think it might make more sense to buy City their own ground before spending 134 million quid on a player?

Havent seen your other post yet, I would see it as priority one to own the ground though.

Assets in the clubs name = good.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,987 ✭✭✭✭zAbbo

    I don't foresee many defensive signings :)

Of course if City get into CL, and bring in a few more names, they'll be the new hotbed for superstars.

134 million for Ronnie you can have him, as some have said joke is on City, if they bought ron for that price, we could kit out a whole side with that money.

lol poor SWP, just rejoins, scores 2 at the weekend, and already they're looking to upgrade to the best player in the world in that position!

United would jump at that anyway, considering he's already declared very clearly that he intends to move to Real at some point, most likely while still at his peak.

134 million is what these lads would earn in a day in intrest!

    ME!

Can we call it Talent Agency Dream Aliance? So when we get a good offer for a player we can say:

"Who just got you a great deal? TADA!

The unnecessary rolleyes gave a different impression.

He's in top 5 most definitely so yeah I'll have him. Kaka and Messi as well please.

    Oh, and Torres and Fabregas.

Where is the end? Thes type of owners coming in can be nothing but bad for the game, and even if it was Liverpool benefiting from this type of ridiculous spending promises and posturing I would be very concerned. It is only going to exacerbate the current divides even more between the haves and have nots. I really doubt this can end well long term for thoise teams to benefit now, or for those trying to chase them without the real resources or those saddled by big debts and trying to compete in these markets (not even sure I would include Liverpool in this now apart from the debts bit).

If they have a real desire to make City the biggest club in the world, why would they go and give United £150 million..
