Hi, Just wondering what CD changer would suit a 2000 316i?

Had a quick look in the boot, and its wired for one.

    Thanks

Does your car have the access hatch and the mounting bracket for the changer. AFAIK all cars are wired but lots have a different left side boot liner panel, without the access door, to give a bit more boot space where there's no changer.

If all you need is the changer unit they're pretty cheap on Ebay.

Somebody else might be able to confirm if the newer changers will play MP3 discs, or is that dependent on the head unit?

There are two shelves on the left of the boot. And the cable is under it.

Ive ordered one of these, hopefully it'll work!

    Looks like a nice changer...

On the LHS of the boot, in or around the two compartments, behind the carpet, you'll find 2 cables. The OEM CD changer slots into where these compartments are, see attached picture. Your sony one will mount under the rear parcel shelf, and just run the cables down.

There should be a 3 pin (12V GND Ibus) connector and a 6 pin audio connector, you'll need to connect both of these. Next time you turn on the key the stereo should recognise the changer on the Ibus and you'll be able to switch over to it.
