Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

hi there, i am a complete novice at this but at the moment i have a sky dish at the back of my house that the previous house owner used and when i bought the house i didnt want sky so got a roof aerial installed. the reception on my tv's are terrible! is it possible to buy a sky box, reconnect the dish to box and combine it with the roof aerial reception? i know sky does not transmit RTE1/2, TV3 and TnaG but i do want those channels. all i really want is the 8 channels and i am totally happy with that! anyone have any ideas? thanks a mil!

Actually Sky does carry RTE 1, 2 TG4 and TV3 so you wouldn't need the aerial.

Of course you would need to pay Sky minimum of €22 per month for them.

An alternative is to get Freesat, which will give you most of the UK channels for free (all the BBC 1,2,3,4,News UTV,ITV,1,2,3,4 C4, E4, More 4, Film 4, C5, etc.). However it doesn't give you the Irish channels, you would have to continue using the aerial for that, sp ot wouldn't help with the bad reception on the Irish channels.

BTW if you do get Sky, I highly recommend getting a Sky+ box, there are offers on at the moment for free Sky+ box for new customers.

Thanks a mil for the info!! I went with the Freesat and left the terrestrial aerial on the roof - best of both worlds....but only for the moment!

    Thanks again!

Best suggestion would be to get whats called a combo box, this will give you all the RTE channels in their Digital Saorview format which is far superior to that you are currently receiving from your aerial which is only in analog.

Combine this with a feed from your sky dish and you will have a whole host of other channels including the bbc, itvs ch4 etc so would be well worth getting.

This must be one of the oldest threads I've seen that had an on-topic update post on it!

The Saorview service will give you a more enjoyable viewing experience, you should have no problems getting it if you're in coverage. It can be checked here: http://coverage.rtenl.ie/index.php
