Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

you should be able to upgrade it to XP. I wouldnt do Vista. Make sure the memory is at the very least512MB - if not, youre better off bricking it.

no point getting an upgrade license since it would be locked to the laptop and will live / die with it
so you would need to buy a new license but that would probably be worth as much as the laptop !

Vista on a laptop too old for XP would be just unusable even if you had 512MB
XP is an option but it's very close to windows 2000 so not really worth upgrading from windows 2000.

if you aren't prepared to pay for a license and you want a newer OS then have a look at www.ubuntu.com , you will need 256MB for that though

yeah i see your point, the main thing i want is it to be as fast as a Xp or vista. its really slow.

with few if any exceptions newer OS's are slower than older OS's if run on the same hardware
newer OS's can be faster if but only if run on newer hardware than the older OS runs on

Putting a very old OS on a new machine can be freaky fast sometimes !

Moores law suggests that every 5 years computers will be 10 times faster, though in the future it probably translates to 10 cores :)

If it could easily be made fast then you probably wouldn't have got for free would you ?

Download ccleaner and give it a run. Use it to uninstall any applications you could do without. Do a registry scan while you're at it.

It may run a little faster.

    Good luck.
