I run a 1.4 Hdi and it is pretty lethargic to be honest. I think Peugeot stopped selling the 1.4 diesel 307 and replacd it with the 1.6HDi a couple of years ago which can come with 90 or 110 hp, not too sure if they phasd out the 2l diesel at this time as well though. It used to come with 90, 110 or 136 hp option. I had a 1.6HDi on loan and it was a much better car to drive than my own. The 1.4 does the job though and it is cheap to run and tax

the 1.4 diesel is pretty pedestrian, but still quicker than the 75bhp 1.4 petrol engine, which was later changed for a (slightly) more bearable 1.4 16v engine.
The 1.6 HDI would be the best compromise between grunt and road tax.

Afaik, the 1.4 HDI in the 307 is, like the 206, only 70 bhp.I think thats ridiculously little in such a heavy car. That said, putting a 75bhp 8v 1.4 in such a car is ridiculous too, if you ask me.I wouldnt get either.I would at the minimum get the 90bhp 1.4 or the 90bhp 1.6hdi

On the same website, i cant find any mention of a 90bhp version

The 1.4 HDi didn't come in 90bhp as there was a 1.6 HDi available in both 90bhp and 110bhp.

The 307 2.0 HDi is pretty rare in Ireland but has superior torque and an extra forward gear over its lesser siblings which is more important than bhp for a diesel engine.

As already mentioned the 1.6 HDi is a good middle ground between both.

i think the 2.0 HDi is quite a common engine inireland - it came in 90 or 100 Bhp and would have been the only option other than the 1.4 between 2001 and late 2005 ... All of these had 5 speed gearboxes, maybe you are thinking of the 136Bhp 2.0Hdi which is an option in the 407 ..
