Do you think it actually takes people longer to write a sentence in text speak? It takes me longer anyway :o

Anyhoo, yeah i like that idea a lot. If she's a fan of Irish she should love it.

It might be best if you work on your English before trying to tackle another language.

The inscription sounds nice. And please read the charter before posting, txt speak is not allowed!

What's the Irish for 'Me Bird'?

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,235 ✭✭✭Dave147

You should have it say 'Luvs ya' and don't forget the 'u' and all important 's' instead of Love.

I am going to start an anti-text-speak federation!

    /joke

I think the locket is a nice idea, with one picture inside? Get her a kama sutra book aswell :D:D

She might ACTUALLY want a locket!! Anyway thinks its a lovely idea and very thoughful of you to put the engraving in irish! Shows you put thought and effort into the idea and thats all a girl really wants! Its not what it cost its the thought that counts!! Nice one :D

Tbh I'd only appreciate that sentiment from a life partner.

Sure we don't know how long they are together! It could be years!

That was my first thought as well, but if they're both crazy about each other she'll probably like it. Lolz, I wonder if it's their 2-week anniversary?

Yeah nevermind me OP....I'm just been around one block too many.
I'm sure she will love it.

    Mo chara
    mo stór
mo shaol - doesn't really work in Irish.
    m'éan?

    I lol'd.

Is a ring really an appropriate gift if you aren't proposing op?

    ....

Where did you get ring from? Or do you not know what a locket is?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 16,165 ✭✭✭✭brianthebard

I got a ring from not reading the op properly.

Its a lovely idea and I'm sure she will love the thought and effort gone into picking such a nice gift.

Personally I would go with the "my love" inscription. "My Friend" just doesn't go far enough for GF/BF situation and "my life" is a bit OTT. IMO.

    Definately "my love", I agree.

I think it's sweet idea, good on you!

Nice idea. Especially like the whole not putting her name on it so it can be reused if the opportunity arises. (Wish I'd thought of that a couple of years ago...)

How about 'Do mháthair'? :P (Or 'do mham')

Get something with a fada in it. They look cool engraved.

I like 'mo stór' but I think you could think of something better.

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,869 ✭✭✭Futurecrook

Really "mo stór" is more commonly interpreted as "my pet/dear/etc..." (or so I always thought) I'd have thought "mo ghrá" would be a stronger term of endearment? Or "mo chuisle"?
