Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

This Friday night, 4th of September, 2008 sees Derry City entertain their bogey team Cork City at the Turners Cross, kick off is at 7.45pm.

These teams already met this season at the Brandywell with Cork City coming out on top by 3 goals to 2. Dave Mooney with 2 and Denis Beehan with a long range effort got the Cork goals after Derry went 2-0 up. It was a very exciting game.

Things have changed a lot at Cork since that game. Mooney has joined British club Reading and the club has gone into administartion with players' wages cut by a whopping 70%.

The last 3 head to heads at the Brandy well look like this:

    Derry 2 Cork 3
    Derry 1 Cork 1
    Derry 1 Cork 4

    Here is the BBC Preview:

    Here is the RTE Preview:
    They don't have one

    Prediction
Im going to stick my neck out here and say Cork will get at least a draw, maybe 1-1. Beehan to get the Cork goal.

If the Cork team that showed up last Friday in Tolka show up, I will go with Derry by at least 5.

I hope you are right. I would prefer to see Derry in the UEFA Cup that Cork so hopefully Derry will win.

The Cork team played ok last week, their goalkeeper was terrible though :o

Derry to win 2 nil I'd say. They'll be a much more difficult prospect than Cliftonville.

You don't lose three nil to a mediocre Rovers side playing 'ok'. They were disinterested and indisciplined.

If they are this week, they will be torn to shreds in Derry.

    Yes, thats very true.

If you knew Cork's players state of mind for this game you would know the result.

This match is actually at Turners Cross. Being shown live on TG4 as well.

^ Cheers, thought I was going mad for a minute.

Hopefully another big gate and a better performance that the crap we saw last week.

I think we will shade this 2-1.

Apologies. The BBC have Derry vs Cork, sorry.

The last 3 meetings between the sides at Turner's cross:
    Cork 1 Derry 1
    Cork 1 Derry 1
    Cork 1 Derry 1

I will go for 1-0 Cork City, I think that they will scrape it. The match is live on TG4. :)

    Sorry for the mistake!

This match has been postponed after a pitch inspection earlier...
Tonight's game between Cork City and Derry City at Turner's Cross has been postponed due to a waterlogged pitch. Following a pitch inspection at lunchtime, the decision has been taken to call the game off. Details of the refixed game will be announced in due course.

    Other matches postponed tonight:
    Pats vs Galway
    Shels Vs Waterford
    Wexford Youths v Longford

While Drogheda have a pitch inspection at 2pm.

Just what we needed in our current situation :(

But given the rain for the last few days its no surprise.

Would have been a poor crowd anyway.

Remember cup Semi 3 years ago.

The pitch was in an terrible state, but game went on.

A poor crowd is better thana zero crowd. How will wages be paid next week. Not to mention I'm not sure will we get the TV money which was on offer.

Apparently the centre circle is completely waterlogged as are both goals ends.

Finished Cork City 1-1 Derry City.

City played very well tonight. Darragh Ryan scoring the goal and getting MOTM, and derservingly so as he had a great game.

Seemed to sit back in the last 15 minutes or so when Derry scored.

It was nice to see Billy Woods back, heard he was called up for the Cliftonville game but couldn't commit because of a family commitment last week, but it's happened now so he's back :)

Hopefully Behan's injury isn't too serious. Gamble back for the game on Saturday against Derry in the cup.
